I don't. -pokes her in the eyees-
Family members don't have to share a name though. Just look at Rarity.

(Headcanon is her last name is Belle) >_>
Twilight Sparkle, Shining Armor nope not the same

It doesn't have to be by any stretch. But the alternative is that Rarity is one of those "I only need one name!" celebrities and we can't afford to feed her ego too much.
Are you saying Cherilee is a celebrity? Or Fluttershy?

I'd say it's less about "upper class" and more about families that simply have a long history and are very close knit and proud of their family as a whole, the ones that are closer to clans then just family, like the Apples or the Pies. It's about being part of that family meaning something very very deeply to them beyond just it being the ponies they love and are related to.

Yeah, I'm in the group that tends to think that each family probably has their own naming conventions.
Hey, what's crackalackin?
A made up word.

Hold over from pre-classical days? Earth pony society was based along your family, Pegasi your rank, and Unicorn your own personal power/standing at court.

That seems like a pretty good idea, considering how each was presented.
Axios!
Scootloo isn't an orphan. Pegasi families just kick their kids out early.
