@Blue: That might just be because Rarity's mane is a bitch to draw. The other thing is that AJ doesn't have all the "alternate persona" characters for people to use. Twilight tops out because it also counts Psycho Twi and Future Twilight, Pinkie probably has a bunch of additional art based on her Pinkamena persona, etc.

But yeah, it's a pity that Applejack doesn't get as much art.

She should dress up as the changeling disguised as herself. Then she'd just be wearing a costume of herself, which makes things doubly silly-fun.

@Syd: I dunno, all it would take is for her to wear a costume for some reason and the fandom could jump on it. Like if she ends up dressed as a pirate for some reason, and the fandom jumps on it. I mean, if a three-second shot of Rarity with a wet mane can result in hundreds of pieces of fan art, AJ could easily get something similar.

@Kyler: The pony universe seems to have a steady supply of atagonists. Even in G1 we have a God for the Diamond Dogs, some darklord who stole Luna's neverending night shtick, fascist penguins, and some daft greedy Ganondorf wannabe who wanted to hijack all the magic, also a bunch of witches who knew how to make an ancient Grey Goo superweapon. Oh yeah, and those cute-looking killer plants who wander around ruining ecosystems.

I'm not convinced. Frankly, I tend to think of each generation of anything as independent, until canonically proven otherwise.

@J Teeth: The fandom may just as easily not jump on it, especially if the "AJ is best background pony" still has enough steam left. Even if they did jump on it their is no telling if it will have any staying power.

Memes in general are kind of hit and miss. If you're trying to intentionally push one, it'll take a lot of luck if you want it to catch on.
