@Mio: It seems like the shorthand for poor-quality OC alicorns is "terrible, cliche-ridden past, poorly-constructed character, and overly-elaborate character design/cutie mark".

I actually had some bizarro idea for a Cybersix-inspired fic involving a missing MDW costume and an Artificial Alicorn genetics project, but eh.

I like to imagine celestia as a tutorial boss to test the wielders, then possibly later as a more powerful boss to REALLY test the ponies, Then as a bonus boss who fights until she is knocked ~~silly~~ unconscious.

I actually like the idea because it would give Twi's mom the perfect reason to show up in an episode and for Rainbow to act like a total dork.

@Steve: My personal headcanon is that she is, but not even Twilight knows because her mother writes under a pseudonym to avoid attention. She knows Twilight is a fan of the books though, and gave her the special editions as gifts or something.
