No, I mean when Discord was pulling all of the Elements tiwards them, then Twilight teleported over there and put up a bubble, then put then back on the ground.

Oh, that bit. I though you were referring to te girls, not that little area that purifier the ground they were on.

No, he means the bubble shield she used to break them all away from him pulling the Elements in towards him.

That's the same bubble.

wild mass guess Maybe that was the same bubble, multiplied up to 9000 by the Elements Of Harmony! wild mass guess

I hope a villain shows up that proves to be immune to the EOH. That way, the ponies will be forced to find an alternative method to win! evil grin[lol]
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!

[up]I honestly hope they don't. The last thing they need is power creep in this series.

Because power creep is such a dangerous thing in a slice of life series, right? tongue

[up]That does beg the question of why one would have power creep in a slice of life series.

Well, I'd say that Twilight is a good example of using it well. Twilight is quite a bit more powerful at the end of Season 2 than she was at the start of the series, and she was plenty powerful back then. They've made it completely believable, though, by showing her practicing and improving herself gradually. It's a part of her character, rather than a statistic in a fight.

And the same for Rainbow Dash. Couldn't do a Rainboom after multiple attempts over how many years...can now do it after a few days warming up.

The problem with power creep is more that if you made a villain who was any more powerful than say, Discord, you'd have to resort to a Deus ex Machina for the defeat to make sense. What would work better is some villain who isn't as strong, but is able to neutralize the elements somehow; like stealing them the way Discord did or finding a way to harness their power or something.

@ Apple: More like now she can do Sonic Rainbooms going against gravity instead of needing it.

Well, true dat. Either way, those two got better over time, and it hasn't effected the series too badly.

I think power creep was not the best word to describe what I meant. That's what I get for hanging around wargaming forums too much recently.tongue

Still, I don't like the idea of something being stronger then the Elements of Harmony for the reasons J Teeth stated.

What if the reason that they aren't affected by the Eo H is because they are already harmonious rather than being powerful?

Or who isn't more powerful, but simply is simply able to No Sell the Elements, maybe by even being not evil, having nothing to purify, simply being a Well-Intentioned Extremist or a case of Blue and Orange Morality, he's not doing what ever they need to stop For the Evulz.

Idea for it could be someone that is trying to save his race/demension/ something, but doing so would doom Equestria, and he's not just saying Screw Them and doing it anyway, but it's a legitimate them or us situation.

as to something more powerful then the Elements, yeah kind of wouldn't like that, more effective in a specific situation, sure, but just plain more effective? nah Though maybe having them unlock more power, or become more in tune with them, something like that, maybe..if it's done right.

Would still love to see them powerup into those Guardians of harmony pics that are running around

I thought the way Chrysalis dealt with it was good.

Agreed. Also, I said this before, but I'd love for Equestria to be invaded and occupied by 'lawful' baddies who follow rules of war and have a valid reason to do so (like Appleloosa on a national scale).

Yeah, Chrysalis wasn't really Holy Crap So Powerful, so much as she relied on stolen power, sabotaged the military, and cockblocked the Manes from getting the Elements at all. She was as surprised as anyone else when she had enough juice to strongarm Celestia down directly.

That, and I get the feeling Celestia's idea of full power wouldn't be suited for a crowded room, but then I subscribe to the "fire, fire everywhere" idea of that.

[up] that's my headcannon, Celestia was using the bare minimum power she thought would work to prevent collateral damage, then got sucker punched

It's the sort of thing that makes me hope one or the other of the fangames will have Celestia as a boss. Because holy shit, how badass would that be?!
