Ah, I should explain, I was aiming to make him 'lanky' as a child. But, I think I'll ditch that idea.

The only "lanky" foals we've seen have been Snails and Fluttershy, and you gotta admit that it makes them all sorts of awkward and goofy. It's not a bad thing, but it gives off an air of awkwardness that you might not want for the character.
