I don't see why it's a big deal that the cast was ungrateful for the dresses. That was kinda the whole lesson for them, there.

Maybe we have different definitions of fine, but they would have walked away with those dresses so I'd say they were fine with them.

Yeah, it's not like they were rude about it or anything. Even when Rarity pressed them the worst they said was "these weren't exactly what we had in mind" which really isn't an unfound criticism. Granted, that was before we found out that the rest of the cast has a complete and total lack of fashion sense, but it's no worse than pretending to be grateful while secretly disliking the dresses or leading off with "ew, that's ugly".

Judging by the fact they didn't want new dresses until Rarity forced them into it I'd say they were.

They clearly did want new dresses, they wre just too scared to ask because they knew how much trouble it would be. Haven't you ever had that feeling before?

I've always wondered how they can tell when characters are related to one another.

Their naming system doesn't have family names.

Well, you really can't. I don't think anyone would have guessed that Sweetie Belle was Rarity's sister if they hadn't explicitly spelled it out in the next appearance after her introduction
