by that logic Spike shouldn't be Fireproof.
Logically, a dragon should be immune to his own fire if anything. If Dragonfire is still a threat to Spike, then I'm guessing that he isn't immune to it.
There's no reason to assume that he's immune to regular fire either

Traditionally, dragons are aid to only be vulnerable to dragonfire.
Or a dragon's fangs/claws, whichever.
I have a message from another time...

Well, not really. Dragon fire could just be so powerful it hurts other dragons; doesn't mean that they aren't tough enough to withstand normal fire.
A super mutant from Fallout 3 is immune to radiation, but even it can't withstand an atomic bomb............okay, kind of a bad analogy, but I really wanted to use it.

-Mr. Nomura, are you trolling your fanbase?
Nomura: Maybe. That is a plot point and I want fans to speculate. *laughs.*

^A dragon might well be immune to his own fire and that of his relatives (for incubation and such, and keeping the young warm and whatnot), but the dragon Spike ran into was a Green dragon, not a Purple dragon. I've never read a ruleset that includes cross-Flight breath immunity. XD

but do we have any indication that he's immune to ANY kind of fire?

Maybe it's a matter of scale, at that point? Spike is already pretty thick skinned - enough that being a pincushion doesn't hurt. So maybe he can resist a bit of fire, but as he grows older his scales get thicker, and he can withstand more fire? I mean he was running away from a giant torrent of it. I'm almost certain it's been stated that he's fireproof.
I wonder if Dragons are immune to magic in this setting? I know he was able to be teleported, but that's a pretty consistent rule in fantasy settings, isn't it? It may be another defence that's developed as he grows.

Can someone point out where Spike said he was immune to fire?
Edit: I don't think Twilight's teleportation had anything to do with fire.

I thought there was evidence in the episode with the griffon in it? I thought someone said that, anyway.

Maybe dragons don't teleport well.

He DID say he was fireproof in Griffon The Brush Off.
Now I imagine Spike getting swallowed by that green dragon's fire and walking away completely unscathed

Hey, it's possible that he is resistant to magic in some degree, which kinda mucked with the spell a bit. But considering that could mean a step further brings us to Tele Fragging, I don't much care to think about that.

Now I wonder if there will be an episode where unicorn magic doesn't work for whatever reason.

Perhaps immunity to fire means one does not catch on fire, but can still be cooked by the heat from the fire.
