@Ace We never see the dress burn away, and we do see her transform her shoes. Looks to me like she can transform clothing, though it may just be skintight articles, Animorphs-style.

RD strikes me as more id than ego. Id is impulsive; ego is the mediator; and Rainbow Dash is the pony most likely to get restrained by her friends lest she jump into a situation without thinking.

"Hurricane Fluttershy" did show that RD has some genuine leadership skills. Leadership and mediation are related closely enough that it's plausible Dash could mellow out and fit the ego role eventually.

I wonder how RD got to be the de facto leader of Ponyville's pegasus population.

Nowadays, pretty much every pony has some genes of all three types. Whether any of them actually manifest is a different story. In most cases, a pony will only show traits of one race. Two-race hybrids are possible— earth/pegasus and earth/unicorn mixes are generally indistinguishable from their pegasus or unicorn counterparts, but pegasus/unicorn mixes (as an example, Cadence) are quite rare. Aside note on an unrelated headcanon.

A long time ago, such hybrids were ostracized from society, believed to be the illegitimate offspring of a unicorn and a pegasus. Anti-race-mixing sentiment and all. Only after the races were united under one banner were they accepted in society, and now the "hybrid" genes are seen as a mark of nobility.

Earth/pegasus/unicorn hybrids are considered to be genetically impossible, but it's also noted that the two known cases of such (Celestia/Luna) happen to be demigods.

She's the official head of the weather patrol for Ponyville, the tornado fell under weather patrol jurisdiction, so she was in charge of everypony that was taking part, which included all the pegasi not normaly on the weather patrol as well that comes out to help.

I kind of also headcannon that Cadance is just a hybrid unicorn Pegasus, while the Sisters are full on Alicorns, perfect mixture of all three and also near immortal demigods. unicorn Pegasi get spcial treatment and honor just for being close to an alicorn, even though they ren't really any difernt from other ponies in power except for having horn and wings

Speaking of Blueblood...who was it that was writing that fic with the clueless, hammy noble guy that came to Ponyville? I forget what species he was but his character's stuck with me for some reason...

@Kyler & CDRW: Jteeth, Sessalisk, and I talked about that in the comments of a fanfic, and we came to the conclusion that Ponyville's weather patrol isn't really organized at all, and Rainbow Dash just took charge of them through force of personality.

My take on it is that the weather team is normally a bunch of ponies, but little by little they realized that Rainbow is fast enough that she can handle it all herself and have time to spare.

So they leave the job of day to day weather up to her alone, but there is still a weather team on standby for special events like changing seasons.
