It's pretty typical for work in progress. Honestly I'm impressed she has as much animation in place as she does.

I'm assuming Fluttershy wasn't shown.

From what I remember she had basic movement frames and the Stare, but yeah I get the feeling she'll be the last Mane "done" as it were and I'm not sure she's anywhere near as substantively playable as Dash is right now.

And then after that there's still another 12-ish slots for other dudes.

Hey guys, I just want you to know, everytime you discuss Derpy not being Dinky's mom, something like this happens

@Swasfews: If it were up to me I'd design Rainbow with a number of lightning fast dashes that get her from one side of the screen to the other, at various different angles, and damage the enemy if they hit, and can then be comboed into various other attacks.

She ought to be really mobile, not just with her regular move, but with her attacks, and have the opponent constantly on the defensive. And I'd expect some cool magic attacks with all her weather control powers.

@Bluespade: My vision for Dashie in Fighting Is Magic is that she's very, very good on mobility and the midair game.

@Pykrete, those are for later, the final release version will just be the Mane 6 once that is out then the team will begin working on adding more ponies in later updates.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool. My random thoughts

The thing about a character built around abusing flash-step attacks like that is that it's nigh-on impossible to balance it. It's one thing in an adventure game where major things can take priority over it and you don't have to worry about how powerful it is compared to non-CPU players as long as it's doing similar damage, but for fighting games there's little way to keep it from being a win button.

This fellow's definition of 'pudge' is a bit... odd, methinks...
Oh, that artist.

His normal style has everyone stick-thin, so yeah, this is his version of pudgy.
I took a guess and cut a portion out of my heart.
He said, "That's nowhere close enough, but it's a damn good start."

Yeah, having those kinds of mobile attacks strikes me as being a balancing nightmare; I think it makes a lot more sense to just give her above average speed and jumping ability. I mean, if we were going by how powerful they were in-show, Twilight could OHKO pretty much anypony by using her telekinesis to slam them into the ground.

I was gonna say...not only does that look still decently slender, it kinda looks like she has an ab pack. That's like the un-pudge.

[up][up]If we were going by in-show Twilight would freak out and forget she even had magic. tongue

Anyway, Chipp Zanuff is probably the best example of the sort of fighting style I mean.

I don't think so.

I think they've mostly got the fighters differentiated well.

I don't know what gameplay you guys were watching, but she definitely had a flight mode and air dashes, Magneto Style. You could cancel her flash kick into flight and cool things like that. The flight just wasn't very obvious because they didn't have an animation for it.

G'night JT.

Anyways, I'd balance Dashie by making her high-damage moves have lower priority and give her a damage penalty when counter-hit by opponents (take more damage if interrupted).

Brushie?

Here's the problem — how often have you hit Fox out of an illusion dash?

Give her longer cooldowns for moves with extremely quick startups, and reduce the damage dealt by such moves. If you really want to nerf it into oblivion, reduce the effective range and make it deal no chip damage whatsover, and make it not charge the Super meter ever.
