But the problem with Pinkie is that fans will point to these Rule of Funny occurances and cite them as proof that Pinkie is superior to everypony [lol]

It isn't a problem with Pinkie as a character but it can be annoying when you hear Pinkie fans talking about it

@Storyyeller: Hence why RD cheated. She's used to being the best at what she does, so when she's out of her league, she uses her own skill set to make up the difference.

Sort of like in Winter Wrap up when Twilight didn't have the physical strength to move the snow and used her magic to compensate.

[up]Although AJ certainly has a strength of character that Pinkie lacks; even if she is better at that stuff than AJ (which isn't the case), AJ is still more useful because she can actually apply her skill to something useful.

But really, the thing is that Pinkie runs on Rule of Funny; if it isn't for a joke, thats what her actual level of ability is. AJ has more raw strength and endurance. Remember how tired she was at the beginning of Party Of One? AJ wouldn't have even been winded after that.

So a friend of mine had a disturbing thought. Twilight is quoted as saying that "The Want-it-Need-It Spell works every time".

Um, When would she have used it before and why? It implies she's needed such a sinisterly unusual spell before and not just for a magic school practice.

Alternatively we could be overthinking it and she just experimented it with Spike or something.

And now I have this idea for an episode where an earth pony wants to learn to fly.
MLP Generation 3 did one... Which can only mean we want to see Generation 4 do it better!

I finally got around to watching the latest episode, it was better than I thought it would be. Did anyone like the expressions that Twilight was making when she was losing it? I really cant help but feel that they took some advice from John K and Bob Clampett for the expressions.

Do you think AJ could use all that leg power to send herself flying really high into the air?

@Mousa: She probably used it while she was training under Celestia, under controlled circumstances. Wouldn't be the first time something that worked fine in the lab was taken out of a controlled environment and then everything went to hell.

Also, I totally just realized that I actually do get the Hub. Now I'm kicking myself for having missed the episode this morning.

I really liked the episode. I thought the moral was a bit odd but still something useful to a little kid.

and the Cutie Mark Crusaders' Vocal Minority may back down a bit because of this episode.

on another note, I heard that the Nostalgia Chick is doing a video on this show and I'm worried about what her opinion will be. she's doing it because some of the loonier fans kept requesting it. plus, she wasn't that keen on the original MLP.

To me, the whole thing was stretched on a line between Crowning Moment of Funny and High Octane Nightmare Fuel.

I mean, I'm glad I watched it, but - rather like Winter Wrap-Up - I can't see myself watching it again.

The moral came down to 'chill the fuck out', man. That's useful to anybody.

No wait. not "chill the fuck out", man. "Chill the fuck out, man".

Celestia as The Big Lebowski. Yes.

[up] [up]that's cool but I could watch this episode over and over. at least until I got tired of it.

[up] you're correct. but it was also "take it seriously if the other person takes it seriously". that's sill an OK moral.

Dorku, I think you mean Accidental Nightmare Fuel.

I can see how Twilight's crazy faces could scare smaller kids.

I sometimes find myself re-watching "Winter Wrap-Up" just for the song of the same name.

It felt... uncomfortable at parts. Now that was most certainly the intent, but as a rule of thumb I disike watching stuff that makes me cringe [lol]

You've never re-watched Winter Wrap Up? You sir, are a special kind of crazy. We're talking Twilight levels of nut bags.

[up]I don't like cringe humor either, but Twi was just too amusingly bonkers for me to not love every minute of it.

It would be interesting if it were a general rule that earth ponies can do most things better than any other kind of pony, only they need to be in the right mindset for a given activity in order to pull it off, and for Pinkie Pie that mindset just happens to be "Would it be funny if I could do this?"

He wouldn't eat his vegetables.

I thought the moral was something closer to helping your friends with their problems, even if they seem insignifigant.

Earth ponies are tanks, pegasi are fast and agile, and unicorns are highly dexterous.
Earth ponies are tanks, pegasi are fighter jets, and unicorns are special forces?
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

Just because there's one official moral doesn't mean there aren't other lessons. Sympathizing with your friend's worries is just one thing. "Don't freak out if you forgot your homework" is also pretty useful.
