I think Rarity should do what all older siblings would do at this point and kick Sweetie's head in.

Maybe she is too busy crying over her post trauma dress disorder.

As I find so much pleasure in that melts like my breath, I am always full of regret.

Really, Rarity has the patience of a saint in this episode. I'm usually pretty chill about stuff, and I probably would have made her go play outside or something after the first incident.

The thing I like about that episode though is that both sides of the conflict have good reasons to act like they do. Sweetie Belle has genuinely good intentions and just lacks the ability to execute it properly, while Rarity's frustration with her is entirely understandable. She's trying to rune a business here and Sweetie Belle is making that very difficult. All things considered, aside from their mutual outburst, I think Rarity handled things quite well.

"Sweetie Belle, stop driving your sister to a sub-psychotic rage, it's not what a lady does."

I can just imagine her parents saying that.

heh @ Steven your minecraft joke is a LOT funnier if you follow the Ask-The-Crusaders blog, where Sweetie is a massive Minecraft addict.

And at no point was rarity really not being gernrous, the limits she placed were all reasonable, and it wasn't that she wasn't willing to give Sweetie what she wanted, it's that she simply couldn't figure out what that was till it was to late.

Unrelated to current discussion: Rarity makes the most delightful noises.

Damn Sweetie Belle! You just got disowned like a motherfucker!

"Maybe I'm better off without a sister!"

"Oh yeah? Fuck off, go live with Scootaloo under the railway bridge! You want that, motherfucker?"

Is this due to Michelle Creber's Minecraft videos?

I just detected a SWEET CATCH!

Apple Bloom starts crushing grapes, a old method of winemaking still used today.

Sweetie Belle looks at it: "You're making grape juice?"

Sweet catch.

My headfanon is that they were making alchohol, they just can't say so due to the kids show thing. Same with the cider.

Yeah, that's my view.

And Sweetie Belle now dislikes you, Rarity, and has replaced you with a superior sister. The only option left is insanity.

@Seraphem: Yeah, that's pretty much how I see it. Rarity's issue isn't that she's unwilling to be generous, it's that she has difficulty figuring out what other ponies want.

And I still think my favorite aspect of that whole episode is the fact that Rarity comes to the realization that she needs to reconcile with her sister all on her own. Sure, she needs help figuring out how to go about it, but the fact that she took the initiative without somepony else giving her a shove is impressive.
