Personally, I think the worst thing Gilda did was mess with Granny Smith. You just don't do stuff like that to old people.

I think the reason more people aren't upset about Granny Smith is because even with her silly moments, you can't shake the feeling that Granny is a total badass and can take care of herself if push comes to shove.

@ Dragon, yeah that's the biggest flaw in any Merriwether Williams story, she just has everypony act the way she needs for her story to happen, instead of in a way that makes sense.

I personally don't see the problem with characterisation in Putting Your Hoof Down but we've had that discussion so whatever.

So I don't see in anyway how Rarity could at all see potential in Spike as a mate, she basically indicated in The Secret of My Excess that "Yes I know you like me, and that's okay", nothing to indicate "I WANT ME SOME SPIKE SOME DAY!"

No no, she treats him like a toddler, he's a little kid to her.

I don't ship, don't see a point to it, seeing romance potential everywhere is silly to me, but if the writing is on the wall, why bother pursuing further?

Besides, I find the idea there is some support that a little kid and a full grown adult have something going on to be a wee bit creepy.

I will defend the existence of ponies being jerks to the death in that episode. If you look at the random incidental characters in that episode, most of them weren't jerks. It's just that the existence of those characters being jerks overshadowed all of the one's that weren't.

Yeah there really wasn't THAT much jerkiness, it's just, the whole thing FELT more dark, cynical, hostile and just plain un-Equestrian.

@ mousa, well the "Kid and full grown adult" issues might not be in play since we don't KNOW how dragon, pony, and human growth dychs up, yes as is it would be a bit creepy, but in a few years he may mature quite rapidly. Plus it's pretty much made clear the rarity know about his crush, does no return it, but does care for him enough that she won't break just his heart

Because that's the opposite of being assertive. Going around is timid. Going around is confrontation avoidance. She was looking for a reason to prove to the other ponies that she was in charge. It's exactly the same reason that dogs try to hump you leg even though your leg hopefully doesn't have a vagina. It's assertion of dominance.

By the way, I just found out about Winni Allfours. I'm surprised noone's doing a crossover or reference to it or something.
