Hoity Toity is a fashion critic; it's kind of his job to critique stuff like that. The other thing is that Rarity's freak out wasn't that he hurt her feelings; she knew that he was right and that the dresses were terrible. She was just sad because after he trashed her designs her career as a designer was basically over.

And as noted, people are hard on characters who are mean to Fluttershy because most of the other characters can take the abuse. Fluttershy is way more vulnerable. The other thing with Angel is that it wasn't just him being a jerk, it was the fact that he was taking horrible advantage of Fluttershy's kindness. What got everyone pissed at hiim wasn't that he was a jerk but that he was a jerk after Fluttershy bent over backwards trying to make him happy.

I consider Angel to be a lovable and hiliarious jerk, whereas Diamond Tiara is just a jerk in my eyes. So opposite opinion there, but I'll agree with you on Trixie.

Also, yeah. Hurting Fluttershy is bad, but seriously, it's not like mistreating Fluttershy is the be all and end all of Evil in the Equestrian world. For example, I consider Gilda's treatment of Granny Smith to be worse than her treatment of Fluttershy.

Tell the truth, I do find Angel kind of hilarious. Still hate how mean he is.

Well the way I see it, it's less hurting Fluttershy is the evilest act that will make somepony unredeemable, and more, only a pony that is already the lowest of the low would hurt her.

Yeah, if doing anything nasty to Fluttershy was considered an unforgivable sin, we would be proposing carpet-bombing Ponyville after Putting Your Hoof Down.

I'm all about forgiveness, though. I mean, we're all like, God's creatures and stuff, you know?

That always bothered me about the episode. Everypony in the first half of the episode was an unbelievable ass just to drive the plot forward.
