@Stevenman - The whalers can be annoying, though.

You figured me out.

I'm a red and black alicorn with a troubled past.

[up] That's the worst punishment a pony can endure.

This is awkward. Truth be told, I'm not really a pegasus.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

I think Celestia should just go: "Oh I can't be fucked for this." and just go home.

It is really convenient that now the aesop does not have to be delievered by only Twilight. Maybe Season 3 can get rid of it altogether.

[up][up][up]Twilight: YAYYY!!!

Every other pony: Yay-er, hold on...

[up][up]True. For some reason I think it works better now Twilight's a co protagonist like the others rather than THE protagonist.

@Mousa: I don't think it's due to the "resembles a real human" thing. I'm not gonna lie, I think a couple of your artistic decisions there are really sort of strange looking. Fluttershy looks almost comically stretched out, Rainbow Dash looks really masculine* and the dark skin/rainbow hair combo looks kinda strange, Rarity looks a little top heavy, the way they're holding their hands just looks a bit weird to me, and they all look like they're leaning forward. I realize some of those things are deliberate stylistic choices on your part, but even so it's going to put some people off.

I think the main issue is that you're prioritizing originality over adherence to the show, which is perfectly fine, except that the vast majority of people on Derpibooru aren't really looking for that. The humanizations that people tend to like are the ones that most closely capture the characters, not the ones that make them look the most realistically diverse.

EDIT: Wait, am I the only actual human on here?

Clever.

Well, this was...something.

Dear Thread,

Today I learned that Twilight is fucking mental, and it's always the ones you least expect you who turn out to be child murderers or something.

In addition to shaking up the status quo of the first season, I love how "Lesson Zero" demonstrated the craziness underlying the "Learn a new lesson, every week" premise.

Guys.

I don't know how or why, but Pinkie Pie is entirely responsible for the delaying of Half Life Episode 3.

@Stevenman - In a later episode, Fluttershy also goes mental.

Also, I'm leaving part one of my analysis here again because after all the time I wasted spent writing it, somebody needs to read the thing. tongue

Arguably my favorite episode of the whole show. I think it was also the pivot that made me adore Twilight personality wise. I had watched a random batch of episodes at that point and kinda saw her as the blander "normal" addition to the cast. Then I saw this episode, not only did it have Twilight display a huge defining flaw and go COMPLETELY APESHIT with it, it did so via what was actually a rather relatable motive and fear as a kid (terrified of angering peer). In a sense it made Twilight both more vibrant and goofy AND sympathetic at the same time.

It's funny how a lot of the time, I think a character gets more depthful the kookier they act up.
