The flying problems seem like something Fluttershy would keep to herself so I guess it makes sense that her friends don't know.

Which is true, but RD and Fluttershy know each other from Flight School. If they were ever in the same class, I'm sure that would come up pretty quickly.

I have to agree insofaras I like variety. I've got nothing against huge boobs, but being gigantic doesn't automatically make them better, dammit! Buxom Is Better is a load of bull.

Although I do appreciate that particular Applejack picture, as exaggerated as it is.

In particular, I like that artist's version of Pinkie (NSFW for lingerie), mainly because it's closer to how I think Pinkie would actually look as a human, i.e. curvacious. But when it comes to Rarity or Twilight, I tend to think of them as a lot more slender.

If Cutie Mark Chronicles is any indication, they both hung around the same age group. Given Fluttershy's lack of ability, I don't think it's an unfound assumption that she might be older but got help back a year because she's not a good flier. Alternately, RD is a really good flyer and may have skipped a flight school grade or something.

Also I think we only see them together in Flight Camp, but I'm not sure if it was mentioned that they had seen each other else where before Ponyville.

Eh you can have friendships with people of different ages than you. In secondary school I was friends with people who were four or five years younger than me.

Rainbow Dash isn't the most empathic pony. Notice how even after hearing Fluttershy's reasons for not wanting to participate, she came really close to just saying "suck it up" and leaving it at that before stopping herself.

She understands that bit though, because she's clearly been made fun of herself (cue the three jocks from Sonic Rainboom).

Once again, given Fluttershy's memory (being pushed to her death while surrounded by thousands of eyes laughing at her) it clearly wasn't as bad as she thought it was.

She understands insofar as her own experiences have taught her that you just power through those things. Hence just shouting at her to suck it up.

Yeah, she doesn't understand at first just HOW MUCH it traumatized her.

I honestly still get the impression that Dash didn't even know the events were happening. Whether or not Dash saw it the same way as Fluttershy did i think she would have at least known about it.

Anyway, it's probably just boils down to a difference of perception. From the events I have seen I don't get the impression that RD and FS were friends or even well acquianted before the Eo H thing.

yeah I'd go with acquaintances, they knew each other, said hi when they saw each other, maybe sent a birthday and Hearth's warming eve card to each other, but didn't really hang out or talk with each other much.

Or they were childhood friends, drifted apart and then became good friends again after the Nightmare Moon incident.
