In "Feeling Pinkie Keen", Derpy was one of the pegasi who dropped the anvil, cart, and piano on Twi's head by accident. But it was never specified whether they were postal service, or some other cargo transporters.

And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that accident got Derpy fired.

Derpy is strangely canon-proof when it comes to fanon about her. The occupations she has been shown performing on screen are weather duties and assisting with a moving wagon. No mail carrying to be found. In fact, we've even seen two actual mail carrier ponies with unique designs, when Derpy could have been used for either one of them. Same goes for Dinky (though you all know my feelings on that.)

My theory has been that she's kind of a Genius Ditz. She's really intelligent, it's just that she has such a different thought process from everypony else that she seems crazy.

Also, if I had the the money for it, I would buy like 800 of these.
