@Veni: From our perspective, yes, but from within the show they were always around, just Behind the Black. The Crystal Empire is explicitly stated to appear out of nowhere even within the context of the show.

I don't think they have titles. They just happen to be the bearers of the Eo H.

I like the theory of Donut Steel being a red herring villain.

Totally tossing a wild guess out here, Old Crystal Kingdom vanished from History like the Mirage Village.

Maybe it's the Equestrian equivalent of Brigadoon? Only show up every once in a while?

You'd think Celestia would have given the mane six knighthoods (or whatever the female version is) by now. I mean, they have saved the world, like, three times.

I mean, they were setting up a fair in honor of the crystal ponies and the released song explicitly states that the empire's history is known: "We can save the crystal ponies with their history".

Maybe that happened at the award ceremony after defeating Discord.

As far as I've heard, they vanished from knowledge suddenly at one point. Perhaps they have something special?

Mayhap the premiere will be setup for an overarching B-plot that builds up for an epic S3 finale, with Cadence and Shiny facing off with the villain to save Crystal Kingdom, thus cementing Cadence's birthright claim to the throne through her bloodline and awesome.

@ knighthood

In my mind, the mane six are knights. They were knighted after the discord incident, and it's why they get chosen to do tasks such as hold the Canterlot HHE's play and deal with the Crystal ponies. It's not really that much of a big deal though. They just live their lives as normal, with the occassional job chucked their way...mostly for twilight actually.

This is just me though.

Celestia DOES send interesting intel to Twi from time to time, like the (late) warning about Cerebrus wandering off guard duty in It's About time [lol]

There's also the fact that she tasked Twilight with getting rid of that dragon...

I reckon it's part of Twi's apprenticeship under Celestia.

Do you think Pony Mystery novels ever have characters actually named Red Herring?

@Dalek: It's to test Twi's ability to handle actual problems. At some point theory only goes so far.

Hey, people.

I read the past few pages and where is this Cadance's relationship with Crystal Kingdom coming from?

It's S3 spoilers, the Crystal Kingdom Hasbro's been marketing in the toyline will come out of nowhere like Mirage Village.

Seriously, what's with this series and introducing really major characters and plot element out of nowhere (This is a rhetorical question).

Are there toys for Discord as well?

@d Roy By "introduce out of nowhere", you mean a grand total of three things, two of which being characters with adequately explained (or soon to be explained) backstories, and one place where the fact that it appears out of nowhere is a plot point? I don't think there's anything wrong going on here, and you can't make a trend out of two instances.
