I had an upsetting thought today about this thread. We're still on mod watch right? What if Season Three has a controversial episode, like the other two before it? And that causes a big nasty argument? We'd be shut down just like that. And the speed of this place during a new episode, it's way too fast moving to take a time out. It actually really kills my anticipation of the new season.

^^ Fleur, I assume. "Ignoring" seems a little harsh, though. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't her only appearance to date the one scene in Sweet and Elite when Fancy Pants is introduced, where all she did was drape herself over him? I don't even recall her showing up in any of his later scenes from that episode.

@Applelight: I think it will be fine. After all even when we argue we don't usually throw around personal insults and such. I doubt we would be shut down for just arguing.

So, what ponies do you want to see developed in season 3? For me its Fleur and Octavia. They're by far the classiest ponies out there, and I think there's real justification for making Fleur into a huge troll.

When did Fleur do anything remotely trollish?

The only ponies I'm interested in seeing more developed are Big Mac and Cheerilee. For the most part, I'd prefer them to simply add in new characters who are better developed from the beginning, like they did with the Mane 6. The show needs more multidimensional characters.

Man, the thread was going fast enough I didn't think I'd have to worry about doubleposting.

@CDRW: Probably Scootaloo and Applejack. I think they overall need it the most.

I would like more episodes in general where the focus character gets to do something awesome and save the day instead of just screwing up and learning a lesson about it.

@David: It's all about archetypes. Rich, influential men who take an interest in the small town heroine with big city dreams usually turn out not to be the best of guys by the end in fiction, nor do the popular guys that the heroine is loosing touch with her roots to impress.

I still can't watch Sweet and Elite without waiting for the moment he reveals himself as a dbag, those archetypes are so ingrained in my subconscious.

People do that when they watch/read/play fiction because, frankly, those assumptions are generally correct. I imagine that a lot of hate for varies characters comes more from the archetype they embody then their actual actions.

The fact that most people age Spike at around 10 to 12 years old and Rarity in upwards of 30 only makes me want to ship Spike X Rarity all the more HARDER. I APPROVE OF RARITY BEING A CRADLE ROBBER!!
