@Con: Agreed. Those Norse fuckers were badass. Even the 'humiliating' shit they did was pretty hard core, when you think about it. Especially since half of them were done to win bets. Thor needs to win a bet? Dress up like a woman and sneak into a giant's hall. Loki needs to win a bet? Turn into a mare, seduce a stallion and give birth to an 8-legged foal, because why not.

@Count: Ha ha, I hear that.

Norse gods also tend to do considerably less animal fucking.

Except for Loki, cause he's a freak.

[up] Ninja'd on the horse thing there. Man, that's kinda fucked up, isn't it? [lol][lol][lol]

[up] That pagetopper is HILARIOUS. It is wrong on so many levels.

[up][up] Technically Thor needed to win that bet to get his hammer back.

But thanks to you I'll forever imagine him as Barney Stinson's head crudely photoshopped onto Arnold Schwarzenegger's body, so thanks for that.

I know, right? It was actually one of my favorite myths when I first read it, just because it was SO far out there. Among Other reasons...

Also, Heya Apple!

[up]Was it? I read all the myths years ago, so I've only a very vague knowledge of most of them now...

Really, I think any attempts to derive sweeping elements of canon about the world from details are going to end nonsensically because the creators just didn't intend for them to be taken that way.

Loki is technically a transvestite, isn't he?

@Kegi: Well, if we're thinking of the same incident, it wasn't really a "bet" - a giant stole Mjolnir and demanded Freya's hand in marriage to return it. Loki, being something of a cock even when he was a "good" guy, proposed dressing Thor in drag and trying to represent him as Freya, leading to a lot of very thin excuses for why the goddess of beauty was the size of a house and ate three whole cows at the pre-wedding feast before Thor grabbed the hammer and laid waste to the proceedings.

What about the the calculations of Rainbow Dash's speed based off of the angle of the cone in front of her during the Sonic Rainboom that show that her final speed is over mach 5 before the rainboom, increasing massively after it? If you don't pick and choose what details matter, you end up with very silly bits of "canon" that the creators obviously didn't intend.
Hmm. Good point. Considering that Flash itself can fail to compile correctly and make Scootaloo lose her wings briefly, I'm not inclined to take visuals 100% literally. I'm mainly Watsonian when it comes to the writing.

I find myself looking at myths a little differently now, though, because Tom Hiddleston is strangely attractive.

Man, I should stop thinking about this right. Now.

[up][up] Yeah, I like how that never really explains itself to you. It is about the characters, not magic.

an Avengers crossover fic used this to explain Pinkies Cartoon Physics abilities by having her being distantly related to Loki.

I thought it was clever.

[up] It would certainly explain that multi-legs scene in the episode with Cranky Doodle Donkey. She's suppressing her form you are comfortable with to extend her Sleipnir-legs.

@Meta: Like I said, extrapolating from stuff that was just supposed to be visual shorthand rarely ends with consistent results.

@D roy: Perhaps, if by some miracle I have the time. Although I might start with Norse stuff instead.

Okie doki Loki, right?

Hoo, boy. Loki has all the best scenes in The Avengers, though. The part where he is listening to Wagner's Loki motif and is totally chill, and just shoves down that guy and puts that machine in his eye like it's nothing?

That was poetry in motion.

@Count: Ah, right, now I recall! Thank you very much.

@Con: Eh, I don't think you can count as a transvestite if you can be whatever gender - or animal - you feel like.

I am still kind of obsessed with how awesome that movie is a little bit.

I think I should take a few deep breaths and lie down.

Like the fact that hammerspace is a law of natures and Ponyville has tons of identical twins?
