Hopefully, the writers have figured out why we love her so much and taken that into account.

The reasons why are probably not universal enough in that you will probably get some people who don't like it regardless.

It suffered from a bit of early show wonkiness, but I thought it was alright.

@Blue I think you have a rather odd definition of "terrible." I would personally only call things terrible if I came out of the experience wishing that I had had never done/seen thing in question. I also happen to quite like Boast Busters, but as you said, YMMV.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Trixie going full on villain mode.

I think the most likely scenario is that that Volcano fellow(or w/e we're calling him these days)(assuming he really is the next big bad) has sweet talked trixie into joining him without her realizing she's joining the bad side.

Cue a Heel Realization at some point.

Basically, I'm not a big fan of redemption or anything, but I also don't want her to go full on evil.

She promotes herself as "Great and Powerful, " but decidedly... isn't. If someone were to actually offer her that greatness and power, I think she'd jump at the chance, personally.

@Lurker: By terrible writing I was referring to the whole "protagonists being assholes towards a legitimate performer and undermining the entire plot" thing, but we've had that discussion many times before so I expect you know what I mean. The rest of the episode was written pretty well but that one issue kind of looms over the rest of the episode and casts an uncomfortable shadow, since everything else that happens is a result of it.

I am so hoping that Changelings or Discord will return, but I really doubt it.

Besides, whenever somepony is out of character, it was a Changeling.

It's a play on the fact that some people think that the character looks like a badly designed OC, and it's a corrupted version of the classic "Original Character, Do Not Steal" line.
