Honestly, I blame Shadow the Hedgehog for ruining the black/red color scheme for all time. Alone, he wouldn't have been enough, but the Sonic fandom, being the Sonic fandom, has forever poisoned any use of those colors. I actually think that they look really cool together on a villain/anti-hero. They just have way too much of a stigma attached to them now.

I actually find Apple Bloom to more or less be r63!Pony!Calvin. She has the same disdain for authority figures who know better than her, the same penchant for zany schemes, and the same desire to obtain grown-up privileges and status. Plus, reading any of Calvin's lines in Apple Bloom's voice makes just makes sense to me.

@Perpetual: I can't see Apple Bloom doing some of the Expospeak Gag things that Calvin does, though. She doesn't have quite the vocabulary or utter disdain for authority figures that he does.

And she's just fine with that.

Then they slap Fluttershy in it and create her Evil Twin, who acts just like her Discorded/Putting-Your-Hoof-Down self.

They also create Discord's good twin, who sends flowers to Celestia and gives Pinkie Pie her own chocolate raincloud.

...this should totally be a spinoff.
