Pipsqueak hate can be traced back to a few sources, namely A: Some people thinking that his name is a Fallout Equestria reference, and all the accusations of "pandering" thereof, and B: The previews shown before the episode making it seem like he would steal the spotlight far more than he actually did.

Well, he only spoke in three scenes, the first one, where he had his accent, the apple bobbing one, where he had one line and still had his accent, and the last one, where it drops, so it wasn't that bad. It was just kinda obvious that they got a young child to do the voice, and he couldn't stay consistent.
