[up]I'd personally recommend John Donne (Death Be Not Proud is probably my favorite poem ever), although he's a bit archaic and given that English isn't your first language it might not be the most understandable. For more modern stuff, T. S. Eliot is quite good.

@FL: I love T. S. Eliot, but if you don't know much about poetry, he might be a little too dense. I love Shakespeare's sonnets, too, but I know a lot of people have trouble with them. (My fav of his is 130.)

I love the major Romantic Poets, and they are not typically very difficult.

I love Lord Tennyson, too. Read The Lady of Shalott, if you haven't already. It is a Narrative Poem for the most part, and it is beautiful.

I am a big fan of Pablo Neruda. He encouraged me to learn Spanish more on my own.

I also love Epic Poetry, but it takes a long time to read.

[up][up] Night. Good luck with your comic!

I also love John Milton 's Paradise Lost. It's awesomeness cannot be contained.

William Blake is also pretty good.

Have to finish Dante's The Divine Comedy, too. I've only read excerpts. J. Alfred starts with a quote from it, actually.

Anyway, classes start back up tomorrow, which means...

Hey that's a different one than before. I liked the old one better.

@Con: You really can't go wrong with any of the Romantic poets; that's probably my favorite era. I really need to get back to looking those up.

Also, Edgar Allen Poe wrote some kickass poems.

(Also, this is totally on topic because I'm writing a pony fanfic where all the chapters are named for John Donne poems.)

There are a lot of poets that people like but I don't, though, like Walt Whitman and William Carlos Williams.

[up] That's cool. I love allusions. One of the best parts of reading Eliot!

That's what I mean, Snowcatcher is pretty much the only one of the toyline only ponies I've really seen anyone make stories/fanart about, aside from maybe the blind bag toy pony Firecracker Burst, who also gets mentioned a lot here.

Actually the original was Tealove (who even has a sockpuppet here). Then Snowcatcher the Irreverent, and then Firecracker Burst. We also made up fanon for the Crystal Kingdom but it got jossed already. And there's also fanon only O Cs like the Daring Do and Peeler stuff.

The dichotomy of innocence and experience Blake established in his work is a recurring theme in His Dark Materials. I loved those books as a kid.

Also, this.

Okay, I'm onto Season 1 Episode 7 now, and this is what I think of the characters so far:

Twilight: Only Sane Pony, which I think is her anyway.
Applejack: Also sane, but is slightly too willing to almost kill herself working.
Rainbow Dash: Slightly arrogant, but still alright.
Pinkie Pie: Hoo boy, I should not have have read Cupcakes before watching, because now I think she's completely and utterly insane. What she says and does in the actual show isn't helping either.
Rarity: Not much of an opinion yet.
Fluttershy: Slightly too cowardly, and not even in the lovable sense. Then again, apparently she does something awesome in Episode 7, so who knows?

Also, I think that Equestria really needs some kind of police or military force, because one day six civilians won't cut it...

[up][up][up][up]There are some rather hilarious things I could point out about that, but in the interest of not spoiling you I'll keep quiet.

Although my avatar might have already tipped him off...

@Fallen: Both A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Taming of the Shrew are hilarious.

[up][up][up][up][up] I liked episode 7. I'd say it's definitely one of the better early episodes.

Also, when I was at the point in the show you are now, I didn't really like Flutterhy or Pinkie Pie all that much, but now they're my two favorite characters.

I think everyone's favorites tend to shift around a bit. I wasn't too fond of AJ or Rarity early on, but now they're some of my favorites. Twilight is still best pony, though.

First Shakespeare play I ever saw was As You Like It when I was 10.

The last one was Richard III last week.

I'm not a fan of Romeo and Juliet, though.

I like Hamlet and Macbeth a lot.

[up] Oh, yeah, I like that one, too. I'm more into tragedies, though.

Going to read Titus Andronicus next because my aunt told me not to because it's disgusting.

From her, that's a recommendation.
