My aunt has that book. I've been meaning to read it, it looks good.

But yeah, I forgive the flaws of that episode for Rule Of Cool reasons related to cowboys.

Yeah, I look like that pretty much perpetually whenever school is in session. Part of the reason I like "Lesson Zero" so much is that I do not handle that kind of stress well, and I could totally sympathize with Twilight.

I'm already on my second week of classes, though tomorrows classes have been canceled on account of rain.tongue

On topic I'm surprised we haven't heard more about the season starting up. Guess they are going for a late September/early October start.

Oh man, classes are starting up? I am so glad I'm done with all that. Now I have more time to do important stuff, like, uh...

Hmm. My life is kind of boring now that I think about it.

@Condo: The book is a hard read. Very Purple Prose.

I tried to read The Name of the Rose once, but gave up when it began throwing walls of Latin at me.

@Well, it's Umberto Eco. This is a guy who deliberately wrote a the first few chapters of a book to be indecipherable to weed out any stupid people who picked it up.

@Con: Well it was from a Tropical Storm that looked like it might hit us at the time, though that turned out to be an overreaction.

I remember last year classes got canceled due to a combo of Hurricane Irene and an earthquake.

I like medieval stuff too. But going by some of the reviews I've seen for it…(main thing is I was supposed to have it already read, but am getting through about 10 pages an hour in a 611 page book :|). But this isn't exactly on-topic…

Oh, I am going to start learning Latin this year!

Yay!

... Well, it's going to be fun for me.

Twilight would probably get it right away.

@Count: Don't. My point is that a lot of time the guy attempts to intentionally obfuscate his audience. Personally, I think that's kinda dumb because I'd want people to enjoy my writing, but yeah, offtopic.

[up]I'd like to learn Latin (mainly because it sounds awesome), but I don't have the time and I suck at languages anyway (as my attempts to learn Greek will attest).

@condo: If your reaction is like that, you may have the most appropriate avatar on this forum, and possibly the entire internet.

[up] Oh, I wasn't going to take it personally from you. I was going to take it personally from Eco. And plot a firing solution. But eh, don't have the energy.

A Canticle For Leibowitz is one of the best books I've ever read. It's one of the many reasons I wanna learn Latin.

I wonder if ancient ponies spoke Latin?

[up] I try.

I enjoy stuff that's on the incomprehensible side sometimes. Genius Bonus fills me with glee!

I did understand Primer the first time I watched it, though. It's possible.

Tried to get my dad to read The Children of Húrin, but he gave up. Hard get through, but AWESOME.

We know Twi likes to read for pleasure, but the only pony fiction we really know much about so far is Daring Do. Do you think Twi is the type to be into poetry?

I would more see Rarity and maybe Fluttershy being into poetry. Twilight's tastes seem to run towards extremes: either pulpy action a la Daring Do, or incredibly high-minded philosophical or mystical treatises. Although if somepony wrote a poem about quantum arcanodynamics she would probably hang it on her wall.

...now I'm imagining her decorating a wall with a framed print of Data's "Ode to Spot" from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
