Ezaktly! Like, Celestia raises the summer sun at that festival, but it's not fair to the rest of the world that she only hangs out in Equestria.
Yeah, Celestia raising the sun is one of those things that's kinda hard to reconcile if you think about it too hard. If there are other non-pony nations out there, you'd think they wouldn't be too happy that a pony gets control over something like that.
I love thinking about things too hard. It keeps me on edge.
You know, they could have always just moved to where it wasn't nighttime if NMM had won.
@Con Then they would roast rather than freeze. The only habitable places on the planet would be locked in perpetual twilight, and I'm sure that those already living there wouldn't appreciate the influx of refugees from the rest of the world.
@Perpetual: I think it's more the implications that the ponies have far more control over nature than any other race so far. I'm pretty sure that say, griffons, don't have anything comparable to controlling the sun. Unless they handle other natural forces, which would actually be pretty cool.
On the subject of (possibly) overthinking things: There's so much fanart out there of Luna on the moon. Thing is, it was her Nightmare Moon persona that was on the moon, not Luna herself.

What are you looking at?
@Con: It's about Anime Censorship, like 4kids TV for instance.
I kinda know about that, but WTF was going on?
Ah. I searched the Friendship Is Magic Wiki for more evidence of the number of days in a week, and found this line from "Sisterhooves Social":
Rarity: So, now, when you say 'a week'... is that, um, seven whole days?
Darn.
MCs on the paper with their murder metaphors need to deal with the literal resurrector.
@Lurker: They wouldn't freeze or scorch unless the sun was moved closer to the planet. There would be all sorts of issues with growing plants, though.
But what was up with having that strapped to his head? I mean, just why?
I think it depends if Equestria is a globe or not. If it is, the far side could eventually freeze, although I think most life would be gone due to a lack of food before that happened. I don't think keeping it in the sun would necessarily burn it (Alaska gets sun 24 hours a day during the summer and it doesn't melt), although I can't imagine that it would be comfortable in warmer parts of the country.
