Actually I think it's really weird how the entire fandom seems to have decided that Straight Hair Pinkie (whom they also named Pinkamena for some reason) is dangerous. In her one episode appearance, she never did anything hostile or threatening towards anyone, she just acted crazy.

I'm guessing Cupcakes is to blame.

How so? It's in your face, fast-paced, rocking, and filled with energy.

This is pretty neat.

Straight hair Pinkie is named Pinkamena because of the flashback in CMC, before her hair poofed up. And the association of Cupcakes with straight hair was made long after the story had been written.

All of the "Pinkamina is a serial killer" fanon has always bugged me. "Pinkamina" never struck me as deranged. Just sad and alone and missing a screw or two. I don't think of her as a separate character, either. She's just Pinkie without all of the things that made her happy. I'm way in the minority on that particular bit of headcanon, though.

I'm with you on that Lurker. Though I suppose people just find it less interesting that way.

@Swasfews: It's not fast and free enough imo. I don't think of Rainbow Dash as a real heavy metal sound, more of a fast and energetic sound. Less low distortion, more high and clean. More like punk rock than heavy metal I guess.

I'm aware she has a lot of hard rock tunes that accompany her in the show though.

Actually, bringing up Cupcakes only really makes things make less sense. The fic is almost universally considered bad, so why would it's obviously OOC interpretations of the characters make it into popular fanon?

@Lurker: Cupcakes may be considered bad but it's still HIGHLY influential. It gets referenced all the time, and the whole Serial Killer Pinkie thing is so widespread that people who know nothing about the show have heard of it.

Yeah that's the one. At the time I wondered if it was a reference to something.

Probably because it was just so well known and because Party of One happened to be kind of similar, thus reinforcing the association.

pretty much just some brony musicians and the rock HS songs

, so I can't really tell the differences between different genres. I can see the lack of "free"dom in the song, but in a way I think it fits. Rainbow's fighting in the game, not racing, so the song should follow that and have more focus.

Like Lurker said, Cupcakes Pinkie is just really infamous. In an interview with the author, he said he didn't actually consider her hair at all. My guess is that the fandom just latched onto straight hair to make her differentiable from normal Pinkie. It's not just the hair though, Cupcakes!Pinkie tends to have blood and the slasher smile to go with it.

There's just something about Megasweet's art style that I'm not a fan of. Can't really place it.

I like Pinkamena as a repressed split personality because I like angsty character drama. But only as alternate-universe headcanon.

Um... not Cupcakes!Pinkamena, I meant PartyOfOne!Pinkamena.

Actually, Cupcakes is based on Call Of The Cutie from what I've heard. It predates Party Of One, which is probably part of what made it so infamous.

Cupcakes predates Party of One by quite a while. It was when Party of One came out that people were screaming about Cupcakes.
