@Ace You do realize that "lynch mob" implies the intent to kill, right? tongue

Forget sleep, you finally get to meet a frakking pony!

It's something so unusual that I'd probably wake right up.

@Perpetual: AJ would care more about her relatives not getting scammed out of their farms than Flim and Flam's safety. And it isn't like it dooms them, they just need to stop being scam artists. Or get a different scam. Whichever.

Figures that massive new season 3 info would leak right after I leave to spend the day flying home.

@Lurker: Well, they were out for blood when defending the town from getting torn down by the buffalo. Barricades with the nails out even.

I really just like the Flim Flam Bros. for their sense of style rather than any sort of intelligent villainy. It's a longshot and possibly an unpopular opinion, but I really hope they become recurring antagonists. Or at least make a cameo.

Hell, I'm all for more one-off characters becoming recurring antagonists. For example, given this headcanon, I'm sure it'd be easy to work out more plots where the Diamond Dogs are involved.
Admittedly about fifty percent enlightenmentCaveman too.

Also, if Twi namedropped the Flim-Flams in her letters to the Princess, there might be an official investigation into the matter.

I'm thinking that AJ would send out a warning, but she's not the time to deliberately ruin the bros. Chances are she'd just want to knock them into a less questionable means of getting money.

[up]Actually, AJ wrote that letter.

I'll get the episode list together. Might take a few minutes.

I'm kind of curious as to what the history of the Crystal Ponies is. I mean we're they a break away group from the main pony tribes, or did they develop completely separately from the ponies that founded Equestria? Until otherwise stated I think I'm going to go with the latter.

Either that or they fused with the Chenjesu.

Knowing Twi, she probably writes her own letters, even when it's her friends who learned something that week.

@story: Wait, season 3 info leak? Where?

Luna's still having trouble with this Friendship thing

@JT: True dat. Twi might have written her own report on the matter later though.

I admit I like charismatic villains over competent ones (though I like them to have at least a Not So Harmless streak to them). Flim Flams seemed a bit suicidally arrogant and short sighted however, even compared to most other Smug Snake villains. Even some of the most incompetent villains I've seen make sure the odds are on their side compared to them.

Okay, here's the list. I divided the S1 episodes into 5 groups. Note that these are all based solely on my personal take on them and aren't objective in any way. I guarantee people are going to wonder WTF I was thinking for some of these.

  • Epic: Cream of the crop episodes; ones that I don't really have any substantial complaints against.
    • A Dog and Pony Show
    • Green Isn't Your Color
    • Party of One
  • Near-Epic: Solid episodes that don't quite hit epic tier, but are still very good.
    • Applebuck Season
    • Dragonshy
    • Look Before You Sleep
    • Bridle Gossip
    • Fall Weather Friends
    • Suited for Success
    • A Bird in the Hoof
  • Good: Episodes that are above average, but have evident flaws.
    • Friendship is Magic, parts 1 and 2.
    • Griffon the Brush Off
    • Boast Busters
    • Swarm of the Century
    • Feeling Pinkie Keen
    • Sonic Rainboom
    • Stare Master
  • Average: Decent, but not particularly outstanding or memorable.
    • The Ticket Master
    • Winter Wrap Up
    • Call of the Cutie
    • The Show Stoppers
    • Cutie Mark Chronicles
    • Owl's Well that Ends Well
    • The Best Night Ever
  • Subpar: Should have gone through another round of editing before airing.
    • Over a Barrel

@story: It isn't just you. There were several weeks when I hardly came into this thread, and I came back to a whole bunch of people I didn't recognize. Somewhat disconcerting. Still, a belated welcome to all you newish folks.

Even moreso if we extrapolate that AJ's Orange relatives are in finance or legal and she has family in Applewood. All it takes are some nasty Audits or lawsuits or even a mockumentary from Applewood and the Flim-Flams are ruined for life.

Yes, but will they know enough to protect themselves from the famous Flam-Flims' Awesome Cideromatic 8000?

@JT: Even the less-impressive episodes are comparable or better than some of the strong episodes of lesser shows.

Wait, season 3 info leak? Where?

It was posted a few pages back. Apparently some images of Trixie and abandoned Ponyville were released.

Well, yeah, I'm rating them more or less internally. Hence why the majority of the episodes are in or above the "average" category. I haven't done S2 yet, but I'm pretty sure that there are going to only be 3, maybe 4 episodes in the "subpar" category between the both of them. 4 out of 52 isn't a bad ratio. And even those episodes do have good bits; if I were doing a lesser show I'd probably have a sixth "crap" category for episodes that should have just been scrapped. In this case I think even the worst episodes have good points, they just needed to be smoothed out a bit.
