@Psi 001: True.

I guess I actually preferred Twilight as the sort of "straight mare" that she was during season one (with her bouts of failure and what not).

[down]Well that is true. . .most of the time.

I prefer to think of them as being the best of friends

@dRoy: That was indeed freaky. I'm still not sure how the curtains in the hallway were blowing in the wind, because I'm positive the window wasn't open.

And if you were talking about the picture I posted, that's a humanized version of an upcoming villain.

Yeah, one thing about the show is that it manages to make most of its villains entertaining, except for a few.

Discord: Large Ham and generally good for a laugh.

Chrysalis: Large Ham, looks awesome, Near Villain Victory.

Flim and Flam: Ear Worm of an intro song, also Large Ham

Trixie: Large Ham and...that's it, to be honest.

@Mio: Well to be fair, she still does that in Season Two, just she goes in and out both extremes a lot more (e.g. Lesson Zero vs Mmmmystery). I actually kind of prefer her in Season Two since her shortcomings are based more often on actual deep personality flaws than her Fish out of Water status.

[up]I'm noticing a slight pattern in that list...tongue

There is this really eerie music playing on and it suddenly feels like a horror movie?

I remember that. I always wondered if it was referencing something specific. Noone can agree on if or what it was referencing though.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@Psi 001: And that is ultimately what annoyed me the most about her this season, her two focus episodes this series rank near the bottom of my list for that reason (among others).

[up]Eh, while I admit her OCD runs the risk of being formulaic I prefer it this way. I've never been big on full on Straight Men, I prefer more even handed chemistries as they seem more complex. Sally Acorn for example is very similar to Twilight, but unlike the latter, her flaws were less enthasised and she was almost always made in the right, which made her a bit duller and insufferable to me (sort of ironic since Twilight would likely make a perfect foil for Sonic).

@ed - Come to think of it...oh wow.

Ah, so she's a spoiler, okay.

You know, there is something really human about Pinkie breaking down. The babies and the flour sack did feel a bit off, though. Inconsistent empathy, if you may.

Overall, I liked this episode. This one delivers some really strong message about responsibility. It gets even better, in my opinion, considering the original target demographics; it teaches the children about the true price of having an responsibility on something and not to underestimate what adults are doing.

@Psi 001: It is more of the fact that they take her "bouts of incompetence and stress" to such an extreme this season that when she ping pongs back to being competent I have a hard time believing that these are the same ponies.

[up][up]Meh. I'd much prefer a new villain.

[up][up][up]Might happen. His VA is apparently planned to appear in next season. Whether it's as Discord or not is unknown however.

[up]I admit Lesson Zero took it a bit too far with the insanity. Still I think they have the right idea on paper. I hate when no risk, "by the book" characters are always made out to be right (enthasis on ALWAYS, not on proper occasions), when such ethics will only get you so far in life. The show does well to show compromise in life directions and that smart in one area can still mean buffoonish in another.

Let's face it, the show has a lot of Depending on the Writer. AJ was similar in Season One.

@Roy It's one of the few times I like Pinkie.

I'm still waiting for Weird Al to be a VA.

If there's Discord in S3, it'll probably be a flashback or something.

Well, the Cake Twins should be older by Season 3, maybe they'll have more roles to play in the future :3

I actually found Twilight's breakdown believable. I get stressed really easily and I could sympathize; if I were in that situation I don't know that I'd do much better.

And yes, Weird Al needs to be on the show, both to give it more legitimacy, and because it would be freaking awesome.

JT: I think it was more the Slasher Smile and actual psychotic behaviour that caused problems with some (it did seem a bit over the top animation wise at least).

Van: The episode will either be awesome or sucky. Either way though it's one of the most deranged and comically nightmarish of the lot.

@J Teeth: I've heard many people state that same when it comes to Lesson Zero. While I don't relate to the situation the whole insanity thing wasn't what really did the episode in for me, oh no, that would be that ending.
