and considering the adult jokes the writers slip in. if Twilight gets a coltfriend, I wouldn't be surprised to have a tame but obvious implication that Spike accidentally walked in on them......."studying". and then have Spike not be able to look either of them in the face, played for laughs of course.

Twilight is probably the one most likely to get a relationship. It seems to be the next step up from friendship, so that's where her studies can take her.....

and considering the type of pony Rainbow Dash is, if Rainbow/Sorin' happens, she's probably be a wealth of implied adult situations. and then she'll realize the downside of being a Wondrbolt's fillyfriend when her fame-by-association gets to be to much.

It's because even though the word Filly is used in place of "girl" a lot, it's still mostly used to address an underaged female character

yeah but the same can be said about the real life "girlfriend". there's a lot of terms that use girl/boy to describe grown men and women. and "Marefriend" may work but it doesn't sound as natural as "fillyfriend".

not quite. In our world You can still call a women a girls even when she's like 20.

In MLP, filly is used primarily to emphasize the underaged aspect of the character in question. We've never seen an adult being called a filly

on another subject, I wonder what the Mane Six's parents are like, we've seen so little of them. I think it'd be funny if Rainbow's mom was a Girly Girl that calls he a cutesy nickname that Rainbow hated even as foal. a name so embarrassing to a tomboy that even Scootaloo gets a kick out of her hero's plight.
