A guy I went to college with actually had a brother audition for it. He got turned down for not being crazy enough. Yeah, most of it is scripted. People mostly go on it for the lulz.
So Springer's on and he's looking for bronies? Sounds as if he's desperate to try to appear as if he is still relevant.

Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need.
One thing I don't get it how everypony keeps thinking Celestia is a stern tyrant despite all evidence to teh contrary.

I just wanted all the build-up Twilight had for her anxiety over being late to have a meaningful pay-off. Also, after that whole {Never Going To See Twilight Again} moment, I was really looking forward to a satisfying story arc with lots of emotion.

Seeing the most of the Mane cast perform an epic jailbreak would be really cool though. But some kind of villain would have to take over for it to be necessary.
Folks act like that was terrible on Celestia's part but...we don't know the whole story...

Ask The Mane Six
Well, I was under the impression that Ponyville had just been flattened in the riot over the doll, so imprisonment would be reasonable.

Twilight: Hi Victors, I've read all your books!
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Between giant bear attacks, rampant insect swarms, and bunny stampedes, a little rioting isn't so bad.
Look at me still talking, when there's science to do!
Well they didn't imprison Applejack or Snips and Snails or Derpy either.
