So would anyone else be interested in another flashback episode? I'd rather like to see how the Mane 6 met each other (minus Twilight of course). It's not actually very clear whether or not the 5 of them were supposed to be close friends before Twilight showed up. Fluttershy and Rainbow have been friends a long time, but I don't think we know about any of the others.

Speaking of new episodes, do you think they'll do a two-parter for the season premiere? They seem to like that for season premieres and finales.

I wouldn't mind if one happened, although I'd probably prefer stuff that happens in the present. Although I guess it would be kinda cool if they had a framing device where the cast explains how they met as fillies before Twilight moved to town. Maybe they could add some shades of Rashomon to it.

[up]I'd assume so, although I don't know how the abbreviated season size will affect it.

I imagine it would start with one character meeting another, and then spread out from there. Like, Dash meets Fluttershy, Fluttershy meets Applejack (maybe helping her establish her land, since Flutters wouldn't know anything about living on the ground), then Applejack meets Rarity (maybe take notice of her lack of fashion and try to convince her to come to her brand new shop), then Pinkie meets Rarity, and convinces them all to have a party at the end to establish their friendship. That's how I'd write it I guess.

[up][up] I expect they will.

It would be funny if Pinkie did understand what they were talking about. Like it turns out she's some kind of idiot savant.
There was an amusing fanfic where it's revealed that Pinkie has a Ph.D. in Contraptionology (basically, mad engineering). The party cannon? Pinkie designed and built it herself.

The reason no one else in Ponyville knows about Pinkie's credentials is that, whenever she starts talking theory, everyone assumes "Oh, that's just Pinkie being Pinkie."

Don't remember the name of the fic, but it had a sequel which was named Contraptionology.

Polar ponies would need some means to grow plants in the freezing climate, or they'd have to get used to seaweed and lichen.
They could eat the arctic circle candy.
So can we get the FULL REVELATION cranking?

Applejack and Rarity probably weren't close friends. And I doubt Pinkie and Rainbow were either.

@Meta Who's that pony? Oh, Slowpoke, ok.

Also, as a side note, I'd like to toss this theory out there, just because I haven't heard anyone mention a similar one:

wild mass guess The Discord arc was originally going to be the Season 1 finale, and possibly the series finale, if Hasbro didn't order a second season. They did, however, and just decided to tweak the Discord arc slightly so that it would work better as a premiere. This explains why it came out earlier than the rest of the season, and why it builds on all the events on Season 1. wild mass guess

Makes sense. That would have at least have made a tight story with a proper conclusion.

This might be true. In Look Before You Sleep Rarity and Applejack didn't seem to know each other well, and Rainbow came to the realization that she liked hanging out with Pinkie in Griffon the Brush Off after she'd initially tried to avoid her. So they probably weren't good friends.

@Blue: It's a ponified Slowpoke. My way of lampshading the fact that I'm responding to old stuff.

As for "how the mane six sans Twilight met", I can't say I'm sold on the concept. Some of the early episodes show them (Applejack vs. Rarity in "Look Before You Sleep"; Rainbow Dash vs. Pinkie Pie at the beginning of "Griffon the Brush Off") clashing in ways that imply they hadn't interacted much before the whole Nightmare Moon incident. Showing that they were actually all friends before Twilight arrived would strain my...

Maybe they could add some shades of Rashomon to it.
YES. DO IT.

@Sky: I thought that was pretty much confirmed?

@Blue: Yeah, that's my take on it, and that's the reason I put LBYS so early in my timeline (which, ugh, needs updating).

@Red I've never seen any Word of God on it, and I haven't seen anyone mention it here either. Maybe I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Better idea: they could show how they all met and initially got along horribly, then contrast it with how close they are now. The moral being "give people a chance to show their good sides" or something like that.

@Red: Is there some reason to think the episodes aren't shown in chronological order?

@Blue: Let me tell you about Homestuck pull up my timeline here...

Uh, well, the formatting will be an issue if I just post it directly, and it's pretty long. Suffice to say that there are instances - "Show Stoppers" (S 1 E 18) should come after "Cutie Mark Chronicles" (S 1 E 23) chronologically, because the clubhouse doesn't make an appearance at all in the latter, for instance.

@Blue: That honestly makes about as much sense as the other extreme. They had to have been able to at least be somewhat amicable towards each other if they were so willing to work together in the pilot.
