I like it better than the idea of Humans Are Bastards.

''If you want a pure boffer group, they exist. They just fight fight and raid.

My group is more plot based though. And it is awesome waii''

Yeah, that's how I got started in it: a bunch of people from my high school used to boff for a while, but it died out. I don't know of any straight-up boffing groups here.

I'm down for plot, it's just the having to stop to try and remember special game rules governing magic and whatnot that throws me off.

[edit] I like a combination: Humans are special because we have the ability to rise above our inclinations to be bastards.

I really have a distaste for Can't Argue with Elves and Superior Species.

Speaking of which, I have a suggestion for Pannic.

If it says Troper Shipping, it's too good to be true.

@Mr AHR

I hate that trope too, especially when it's overlap with Humanity Is Superior and humans are Karma Hudinies. But Humans being special or superior that my top worst trope.

[up][up][up]I don't have problems with those tropes, as long those are used to avoid Humans are Sues.

Nothing's wrong with Humans Are Special, so long as it's used right. So long as everything else is also special, or that specialness only makes them a target, or any number of other things that could make it work.

Anything related to *Blank* is okay when it's female on male. You ever want to get angry, look at those pages.

@Lurker: "Or that specialness only makes them a target".

Like in Predator and various science fiction films?tongue

[up]Oh yeah, I hate those too.-_-

[up][up][up]For me only good way to play this trope is avert that.

Why do even put humans in world, they are not needed.

@Mousa: Cool.

Pet peeve tropes, huh? Refuge in Vulgarity, Idiot Hero, Good Is Dumb, Time to Unlock More True Potential (basically any time the hero gets stronger solely because he really wants to).

Tropes May Be Tools, but some are almost universally negative, like Dan Browned and Idiot Plot.

I like shiny sell-used keys :D

@JT: Is Idiot Hero okay when it's in a purely comedy film/series at least?

My wireless keyboard has little grooves dug into the edges of the W and S keys due to my tendency to scratch at them idly while gaming.

I really need to fix it...

I hate idiot hero, when he is main character and show is not pure comedic (most time when it's anime idiot hero).

Brutha in Small Gods wasn't bad, though I'm not sure if he qualifies for Idiot Hero.

@Marston: Yeah, parodies and such are fine. It just bugs me in a lot of cases because those types of protagonists often end up winning solely because they're really really tenacious even though they're morons who shouldn't be as effective as they are. Not to mention that it usually results in the villain getting an Idiot Ball to make their defeat make sense.

Yeah Idiot Hero is only good if it's a pure comedy like The Naked Gun series or Inspector Gadget type thing.

[up][up]Yeah, those are fine because the hero's ineptness is treated appropriately. (See also Johnny English) It's stuff where the hero is a bonehead in a serious setting.
