Don't forget how often Dashie gets thrashed by various monsters she comes across.

Funny thing is, she doesn't really feel responsible for it all to me. She didn't bring them all together, really, and as I said before I think they all would have come upon the same place eventually. Yeah, she was a trigger, but she's significantly less responsible for most of the series than, say, Luna, or Celestia, or hell, even Twilight seems more like the source of it all to me.

Well, with the exception of Pinkie and Twilight, the Rainboom only accelerated things. Rarity was already at the giant rock (and she was probably angry enough to push it over the cliff, where it would break, or something), Applejack probably would've only stayed there maybe another day two without the rainbow, homesick as she was, and Fluttershy was already Disney Princessing it up down there with the animals.

If anything, Rainbow Dash demonstrates less competence than I'd expect her to. It was kind of weird how hard she got owned by Little Strongheart.

Maybe that's just owing to her impulsiveness and tunnel vision.

And even for Twilight, I've heard it suggested that even if she failed the exam, it's not likely that she wouldn't have still had all that raw magical power. She might not be as encouraged to study magic after a failure like that, but eventually she might have turned her parents into potted plants the next time she got startled. She's mostly lucky a demigod was nearby at the time to witness it and calm things down.

Pinkie? Well, she was able to find out what a party was within, what, 24 hours? It seems to me that eventually she'd figure out that joy is a thing that exists.

The rainboom probably saved everyone a bit of grief, though.

I must admit, I find straight haired Pinkie Pie◊ to be kinda-sorta-YMMV cute.

I won't lie, I think the non-poofy hair is a cuter look for Filly!Pinky Pie than what she ends up with.
