Re Back legs: The front legs on horses are actually very strong. A horse's center of gravity is skewed quite far forward and the legs have to be able to handle the added stress, especially when they're walking downhill. Take a quick look at how developed a horse's chest is and you'll see what I mean.

@ Crow: In Mmmmystery he can barely carry a cake. In Lesson Zero he can send the majority of the town flying in one blow and in Hearts and Hooves Day he can pull a house.

And as another point that no one cares about. AJ is the only person who thinks Dash cheated. Everyone else thinks the contest was fair.

Really? When Big Mac is under the effects of love his strength is magnified to ridiculous levels. We know that love amplifies magic so the only logical conclusion is that Earth Pony magic involves a bonus to strength.

We know that Princess Cadance's love magic enhances magic. We have no idea if the Love Poison (which was a POISON, mind you) would have a similar effect.

So far, we've basically been given two examples of Earth Ponies who are stronger than average: AJ and Big Mac. Both of them have valid, non-magical explanations for their enhanced abilities: they work on a farm which causes them to be much more physically fit than most ponies. So far, I don't believe there is anything in canon to indicate that Earth Ponies have magical super-strength.

If anyone has any evidence to the contrary, please bring it up, because I'd prefer it if the Earth Pony Strength Boost thing was actually true.

It could be he was struggling to balance the Cake, lord knows we've had plenty of examples of his awesome physical capabilities, but that cake didn't exactly looks stable, One can just as easily be under strain trying to keep something steady.

@ Blue: Actually Chrysalis' love magic boost had nothing to do with Cadance's magic. It was to do with her brainwashing Shining Armour into loving her.

I was referring to when Cadance boosted Shiny so he could do his spell and give the changelings the boot. I assumed that Chrysalis's power boost was a unique changeling ability to derive power from stolen love.

My explanation for the cake thing is threefold:

1. We don't know how long he'd been holding it for; it can be easy to initially lift something, but it gets progressively harder to hold it up.

2. Balancing something takes a lot more work than dragging it

3. The full weight of the thing is on his back, whereas the house is being dragged mainly by legpower.

I'm just going to say that I think FWF supports my outlandish headcanon that subconsciously, AJ hates Rainbow Dash's guts and their rivalry is mostly an outlet for that hatred.

You do realise the "cushy government job" thing is a gross oversimplification, don't you Mousa? Would you say CIA agents have cushy positions?

Most government job aren't really any cushy than any other office job. Yes, there are a few people while fritter away their time and the country's ta dollars, but by and large, there are a good number of hard working people.
