My experience with MLP:
Fi M:
I'd been seeing all these adorable pony avatars and memes all over here, The Escapist, and even other more obscure, independent forums, and they got me incredibly curious. So, after much nervous stalling and procrastinating, I decided to watch the first 2 episodes
My heart melted. It melted into candy and rainbows
Before I watched it, I was expecting it to be Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends mixed into a big pot. And it kind of was, but in a good way. The characters are fun, the animation is superb, the comedy (while I thought to sometimes be hit or miss) is really funny when it gets it right, and of course, it's cuter than kittens, bunnies and puppies flying on a magic carpet shooting rainbows, sunshine, smiley faces and candy
That said, there were a few things did bother me though, like the fact that they kept using words like "somepony", "everypony" and "anypony" in replacement for "somebody", "everybody" and "anybody". I know it's there to make it more cutsie and I can understand why they did it, but it came off as random and a bit annoying to me. Also, like I said earlier, the jokes are also a little hit or miss, there were some jokes I just kind of chuckled awkwardly at. I also didn't care for the plot, but apparently the plot kind of fades away in the later episodes anyway
Besides those minor annoyances, I can't say there's anything to complain about. It would seem that the pwny brainwashing is just too strong for me. Hell, I'm probably gonna get my own MLP avatar. To hell with my masculinity, I have Led Zeppelin for that
