I think the main reason that this series is so popular is that it's enjoyable. Then people were like "wait a second this is enjoyable – and also a merchandise-driven series for little girls about ponies and friendship. ... Hahaha what the hell this is awesome"

In other words, it's good. And the fact that it's something that nobody would've expected to be that good gives everyone happy seizures.

Okay, that's a good point, considering what website this is.

Does it have to be labelled "The new X" purely because it's popular? Let it be it's own entity.

I have heard that Homestuck has an armada of fanworks.

One interesting similarity of Touhou to MLP, is that it's cute, matriarchal Lady Land with few males, filled with magical girls, and a rabid fanwork creating fanbase. With an apparent belief in lesbianity, too.

I still don't get why Chagen was going on about "hipsters". I mean, who says a children's show can't be, you know, genuinely enjoyable?

AHM SO EDGY I WATCH MY LITTLE PONY.

Yeah Chagen was just being dumb. I know for a fact that almost all of those people commenting on the youtube videos generally love the show like we all do. Also the people on 4chan.

This post says why I have trouble taking this all seriously.

[up][up][up][up] You have just made me very afraid.

Also, I really could have done without the mental image of two pastel-colored ponies making out...

^^ Why does your alleged manliness matter... at all? Stop caring about stupid things, and just watch shows if you want to watch them.

Okay then, we're just going to discuss this show ourselves.

So, Fluttershy. Most adorable pony, or most adorablest pony?

Yeah Chagen, the thing about that is, no one gives a shit. This show is great despite it's girlyness. It's got great art, animation, characters, it's smart, funny and give generally good lessons in a magical world. Lauren specifically created the show for all different kinds of people to watch, and she hates the stigma that boys can't like girly things or vise versa. She's doing a great job of bring in all kinds of people to watch the show.

Also, the fact that the top watchers of the show are currently Males and Females age 18-25 should tell you something.

My favourite part was episode 9 where Fluttershy's voice actor changed.

I like how the thread is increasing in posts so fast. Almost like it's a 4chan /co/ MLP general thread. Except, no where close.

According to one person's claim about the General Archive, it has finally hit a quarter of a million. And the post count just went over 5000 in a day a couple days ago. Everypony, I think we're approaching a Sonic Rainboom.

Well, what else would you expect from a show like this?

So what's this I hear of a cute, matriarchal Lady Land with few males, filled with magical girls, and a rabid fanwork creating fanbase?
