The show does have a tendency to tell a lot of story really quickly. Personally, I think that the point was that she realized that friendship was valuable after a long time of denying that. Not to mention that they'd already been through a lot more together than most people would have over the point course of a couple days.

Yeah, the pilot episode is a lot heavier on the friendship stuff and is kinda rushed because it introduces so much so fast. Subsequent episodes are generally more subtle. If you feel like skipping around, I'd suggest hitting "Dragonshy" or maybe "Sonic Rainboom" to get a better feel for the show.

The pilot has them bonding over several life-threatening perils and then defeating and purifying an angry moon goddess together. That's as good a starting point for a friendship as any. The rest of Season 1 has their newfound bond tested.

Oh, I was wrong when said that Fluttershy scored a 6 for M.C. Strength. She had actually scored...I think it was somewhere around 15 or 20 or something. The Aquanaut who scored 6 was Leeroy Wingkins.

Still, her score was rather low.
