Samus Aran had done Sonic Rainbooms before Rainbow Dash.

Seriously, the Speed Booster in Fusion had rainbow visual effects, very similar to a Sonic Rainboom.

Fallout: Equestria superior, Cupcakes inferior.

Pretty much. Fallout Equestria has all the shock value Cupcakes tried for, but A) bothers to write it well, and B) uses it as the backdrop for a brooding story and moral quagmires instead of gore for the sake of gore. And it nailed Fallout's twisted sense of humor.

If you haven't read it yet, it was recently completed, so you don't have to worry about the disappointment of Dead Fic at all.

Also, the fan music kicks ass.

Apparently unicorn and pegasus traits are recessive. Or something. Unicorn self-levitation and phasing through solid matter are a thing. Pinkie's stand-up inducing tears is not exclusive to foals. Pound Cake is the new Rainbow Dash.

I think the MST3K mantra is the only defining text pony genetics. That being said, having two earth ponies give birth to both a pegasus and a unicorn kind of seems like the creative team was saying "Problem, bronies?" since the show's adult fans are more likely to notice something off about that.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Mr. and Mrs. Cake not having many appearances lately seems to make a lot more sense now, what with two foals on the way and all.

Wait, since it was confirmed by Word Of God that it's possible for an earth pony to have a pegasus or unicorn as a kid, what about back where the three groups split and only worked together out of obligation?

Did the parents hide their abnormal traits/lack thereof? Were they sent to live with the ponies of their race (I guess is the best word for it)? Since everyone in Applejack's family is an earth pony, does that mean she's purebred?!

Presumably, way back when, the three tribes were absolutely, completely separate.

Then, once they all started singing happy songs together in a cave, they started to interbreed. Enough so that most ponies have the genes of 2 or 3 types of ponies. And while it might be uncommon for an Earth Pony couple to have a pegasus baby, it could happen.

And the Apple clan are Earth pony purists. Sure, they act all friendly around the other races, but they'll never mate with them. That would be a disgrace to the entire clan!

Ehem. Having recovered from my cuteness shock (really, the babies pouring flour over them to make Pinkie smile... awww...) - I did wonder about that as well. I mean, what was the primary method of securing peace in ye olde days? Dynastical marriages, of course. And if unicorn and pegasus genes really are carried recessively - hah. Imagine the heir to the Unicorn Kingdom being born as pegasus
