I don't really think of it as mis-anything.

I didn't mean to call the creators misogynist or misadnrist.

I just have a very low opinon of Tv executives.

Fuck it, I might as well watch this show if I ever finish Black Lagoon.

It's for all people to watch, boy and girl. The creator has said so multiple times. In fact she hated the old Mm Little Pony shows.

I think this site in general has a low opinion of TV executives.

Also, I think one of the main reasons I would like for the episodic format to break is because, being the über feminist that I am, it would be a break from typical girl tv shows. Many of them are indeed episodic, while boy shows tend to be less so (see, Ben 10 for instance. Girl shows have been on the decline recently so I can't think of a good example that is after the 90s).

Now, one could make the argument that the point of MLP is to play the typical 'girl tv show' tropes straight but also well, and not use the 'boy tv show' tropes to make it 'better.'

That being said, I still would like a balance.

Hmm... I've only seen three episodes, but maybe it could go the Doctor Who route and have mostly standalone episodes, but with little background details that tie into a (relatively) epic series finale?
I took a guess and cut a portion out of my heart.

You mean the Dr. Whoove route? :p

Also, I think I'm gonna change to Apple Bloom. I love her.

The old animated ponies looked like hideous pony god abortions compared to these well drawn ones.

I try not to dislike executives, and more of treat the negative happenings as unique occurances that in no way reflect the majority of executives.

That being said, I'm probably a bit too optimistic.

TV executives (and in fact, executives in general) are rarely acting out of malice. They have an obligation to act in the interests of their shareholders, and so they will pursue that goal above all else. While this often results in unwillingness to take risks, and apparent misogyny and misandry (though that's not really what it is, usually) and other things that people on the internet complain about a lot, it's hardly a sign that they are bad people.

I try not to dislike them either. I see a bit of well-meaning in some Executive Meddling examples, though the site's anti-exec bias is an obvious indicator of how much at odds art and business are.

So...how long do we have to wait till we get a Friendship Is Magic video game for the 360, PS3, and Wii?

Aesthetics, character design, Animesque
Yeah, My Little Pony has always been kind of animesque. They have big eyes and Puni Plush now, but they had it back then, too. In fact, Generation 1 was made by Toei animation. It's at least as much of an anime as Little Nemo and various other things are.

And kind of up Lauren Faust's lane how Powerpuff Girls was blatantly inspired by anime, and even had an anime made of it. It looks almost as much of an anime as Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt does.

... which explains how, as a person who usually likes anime and tends to prefer the Japanese animation aesthetic, is gushing over this show's art style. It has a bit of a simplistic look like a lot of modern animation, has thick lines, and the like. But it's still really incredibly adorable. Kind of explains why I like the art style in Lilo and Stitch, as well.

Anyway, it may be simplistic and like a lot of modern American animation. It's definitely very well done. A lot of areas are well drawn and detailed for something with such supermassive thick lines and minimalism in many areas. Much like Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. It may be simplistic, but there's a lot of detail put into things.

You know I kinda want to like Fluttershy, but it is so damned hard for me to do so. Mostly because she is so quite and shy that she hardly says anything. Although her yay is hilarious.

It seems so unlike him.

Also, why is there so much rule 34 on this Ponibooru, it's creepy.

There's a lot less Rule 34 than there is hilarious fanart. the sexual content is far and few between.

Well it was real prominent when I searched "rainbow_dash".

Also, for some reason "Look Before You Sleep" has Twilight reminding me of Rocko, always the victim of whatever brouhaha there is at the moment.

Is there really that much 34 over there? I go there and it seems like maybe 1/8 at most.
