Oi, loli/shota-ness. 14 is the absolute lowest I'll go for, and that's pushing it now that I'm 16...

Lowest I'd go is 16.

And, of course, that'll change as I age. I don't like it if they're too much younger than me.

I'm only 3 months from my 20th birthday, and I couldn't really see myself going for anyone under 18 now.

Can we all just agree that crushing on a fictinoal character, any one of them, is as strange as another?

Sounds very nice and conciliatory at a glance, but no, that's ridiculous. It's plainly a lot more normal to crush on Inara or Sawyer than Maggie Simpson or Scooby-Doo.

BTW, "anthropomorphic" simply means possessing human traits, which the MLP ponies obviously do (real ponies don't sing, farm apples, throw parties, etc.). They're less anthropomorphic than the kind of animals I'd normally associate with furries, though.

26. Woohoo, I'm an outlier!

A crush on Fluttershy shouldn't surprise anyone, cause she is your average Moe Blob with four legs instead of two.

Meh. Cartoon crushes happen, and honestly, are kind of to be expected; if the human mind can construct fictional people and have emotional reactions to them, there's not much reason to think that "attraction" would somehow be exempt from the set of emotional responses one can have to the character.

RE the ponies specifically: they generally behave and are depicted as girls around the age of 20, while having a few traits that are more childish than one would expect. When someone says "crush", I'm assuming here that they mean emotional moreso than physical attraction, so Haldo (in this case) effectively has a crush on a fictional ~18-20-year-old girl. So it doesn't strike me as particularly unhealthy (if someone is physically attracted to cartoon ponies, well, that's pretty weird, but they aren't hurting anybody, so whatever).

Keep the line between fiction and reality clear in your head and don't hurt anybody, and as far as I'm concerned, you're doing fine.

Sounds like the best attitude to take, I think.

I'll admit, I do feel a little weirded out when people sexualise the characters, let alone start debating about "is this zoophilia?", but you're right, it's not hurting anybody.

Aside from anything else, I'm pretty sure the things that make a viewer attracted to a 20 year old fictional pony with human intelligence are going to be radically different to the forces that make a pedophile attracted to a real ten year old girl. Which are again going to be radically different to the forces which turn someone who simply has pedophilic tendencies into a full-blown child molestor who is actually willing to violate a small child/teenager in the case of Ephebophiles.

Even if you find yourself attracted to a 12 year old pony, there's still a massive gap between that and being attracted to a 12 year old real girl. And then a gap between that and being a serious hazard to said girl.

I don't think anyone on this forum has to worry about turning into a sex offender overnight. So please refrain from panicking.

EDIT: (Years later) Oh God, what the actual fuck was I thinking when I posted this. This is, without a doubt, the most disturbing thing I have ever posted or will ever post. What the fuck was going through my head?

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.

[up] You never know what people can do. There are people out there who will post creepy pictures of (action) figures of their favourite animated series covered in semen and/or who will pursuit their voice actress.

I know, it's just that the discussion was about somebody who had a crush on ponies and then, out of nowhere, half of Game Chainsaw's post was about pedophilia and justifying it.

Facepalm

Someone brought up attraction to the characters, another person brought up that furry chart and the fourth image, and I decided to bring up the topic with the intention of showing that attraction to fictional ponies isn't a big deal.

In hindsight, that probably has to go on the list of the most unfortunate forum accidental subject changes ever made.

So hey, how about that Furry Confusion?

They got talking horses, cows, buffalo, griffons and dragons. But not dogs, chickens, manticores or anything.

Oh wait, one episode does have talking dogs...

Inconsistency!
