It's actually allows for a very significant set of developments. Time Travel has far more uses than simply changing the past. I'm trying to stick with stuff we've seen in the episodes. As for how an earth pony travels through time unassisted, it's not normally possible. But he's one of a very small number of non-unicorn ponies who can do it. But yeah, his body itself is effectively a time machine. Time spells are effectively natural abilities to him.

@Sereg I just mean that the very inclusion of repeatable time travel sets off a million different types of Fridge Logic unless you have a very detailed explanation of all of the rules and limitations. For example, you said that they can't change the past, but that could be because You Already Changed The Past, or because they can only see into the past, or because they become unable to physically interact with anything in the past, or because time is self-correcting, etc. It is not something to be brought up casually, and most of those scenarios have tons of loopholes that need to be accounted for.

I'm fully aware. There's a reason that I usually avoid writing Time Travel but when I actually need to anyway, I'm going to have some fun with it. The spell Twilight used results in You Already Changed The Past and anypony affected by it becomes immune to future castings. The spell the Discord used is repeatable, but you are unable to interact with anything. Travel to the future allows you to interact with stuff, but it's only a possible future. When the timeline stabalises, only some copies of younger travelers will remain. That's why Doctor Whooves's younger self (of course, he wasn't named that yet) was in the battle for Appleloosa and Derpy's younger self witnessed the events of Cutie Pox and a later version of herself participated in the Best Young Fliers competition.

Pannic: Because I totally need to add more games to the pile of stuff that won't get finished for 5 years.

I on the other hand will probably go for Fallout 1 and 2

@Sereg: He didn't seem to be a colt in "Over a Barrel", he just had a different mane/tail style. Or are you using that fanon anyway?

@Sereg The problem here is that all of that sounds like the plot to a whole fic by itself, rather than offhand background in your story about Star Swirl.

@Sereg: Yeah, I feel like you're overpowering him a bit. The other thing is that I feel like you're starting to switch over from "analyzing the ponies' canon abilities" to just making stuff up. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but one of the bits I really liked about it was how you explained everything while keeping it in the realm of actual possibility. Unless there's a serious nerf of some sort I think giving him a reusable time travel spell is a bit much.
