I imagine Twi to be the sort who completely freaks when a malware scare hits the news, following which she insists on making sure everypony's machines are updated and secure.

Oh wait, she already did that in It's About Time [lol]

@Yeller No, I just advised against using Internet Explorer, due to the virus. However, I'm kind of stuck between going on to check using the FBI site, or letting Windows Protector do the work.

Nah, when it comes to that, i see Twi as more the type that will have already programmed so many speerate firewalls, malwares scanners, and other security features onto her computers she never worries about tose things, yet still does a complete system scan every day.

Twilight would run an obscure linux variant so she doesn't care.

@Gex: If you don't want to waste money on commercial antivirus packages, use Microsoft Security Essentials. Otherwise Kaspersky, Trend Micro, and Mcafee are good choices. Avoid the consumer-level Norton and use the commercial Symantec antivirus instead, it runs much smoother.

@Yeller and Sera: yeah, but the rest of the Mane Six would be using normal machines, so it still applies to everypony else's rigs [lol]

Next question: What O Ss does everypony use? I think Rarity is most likely to use a mac. Granny Smith is still using Windows 98.

Yeah, Twilight's computer would be so pumped full of antivirus stuff that malware would take one look at it and go "forget this".

Now Pinkie's computer would be a mess. You just know that she clicks on every single smiley ad and has like sixty "free" toolbars.

@Story: 98 nothing; Granny either runs straight off of DOS or maybe 3.1. Ironically Big Macintosh uses Linux.

no, fuck Mac Cafee or whatever, fuck it, last time I had to reformat my comp wasn't due to a virus but due to that POS thinking part of my system's boot drive was a virus and deleting it.

@ JT ti's like mister Burns of computer's, every single virus to ever exist all fighting to infect it, and yet they end up canceling each other out so none of them actually work

Having more than one antivirus running is usually a bad idea, since they'll often conflict with each other. Besides, it's at best an extra precaution, not a solution.

Granny Smith's got a good old 80286 rig running DOS and Dosshell [lol]

Dashie's got no desktop, but she has a laptop and a smartphone stuffed into a legstrap.

Rarity has an iMac or a new Retina macbook. Fluttershy prolly has a lean laptop by her bed, Pinkie has a riced-up machine, and AJ probably has a beat-up Thinkpad from her time spent at the Oranges.

Twi definitely runs a very restrictive distro of *nix with custom-written antivirus countermeasures, extra-strong.

Fluttershy has a webcam and runs a Cute Animals video blog :3

Rarity mostly keeps up with gossip and advertises her fashions on her machine.

Yeah, Cheerilee would probably have to use a Windows XP, since all the computers at my school are bare-minimum like that. Also, have any of you ever played a game called Under The Skin?

Under the Skin is this Capcom game where you play as an alien named Cosmi and play pranks on Humans. If Cosmi passes all of the trials on Earth (getting enough money from pranking humans) he becomes a hero on his home planet. There's even a level based on Resident Evil 4.
