Good point. The Rainboom may have helped her find her animal skills, but it doesn't rely on it happening. She may have found out a different way.

She may end up being more insecure than she is now.

Crooked Trees stated that he wanted to do the story he started with Pinkamina in a non-Ask format, so I sincerely doubt it's him again (can't look at that yet, likely won't even when I can). From the URL, it looks like a copycat of both Pinkamina and Lil' Miss Rarity.

Kinda sounds like that Friends episode where they all wonder What Could Have Been. Despite the deranged changes in life, everything ultimately starts to slowly alter according to the proper timelime, suggesting they couldn't change fate in some areas.

I could almost imagine that happening in a FIM story in that style, it would be played a bit more tragically, but ultimately in some way or another things would ultimately play so they all meet together and become friends as they orginally had. Oh and RD would probably still get a Rainboom somewhere in there as well.

Wait, even better, what about an It's a Wonderful Plot episode? I could imagine an episode with Twilight having a similar setup, since she wouldn't come to Ponyville and they wouldn't band together. Alternatively they could a have comically exaggerated version where everything becomes a dystopian mess without them around (akin to the Rugrats example).

I'm imagining an Eternal Night scenario where everypony has to grow plants that live on moonlight instead of sunlight under an Endless Night. Discord is dead, shattered into pieces while petrified.

Rarity in this timeline is a jewel thief, Fluttershy is effectively a Crazy Animal-loving Mare with tame Everfree megafauna living in her house, Pinkie has become something like the Addamses and has taken over the family farm, Dashie is still with Gilda, AJ is still AJ, and Twi is a reclusive yet brilliant student with a different nature from being trained directly by Nightmare Moon.
