Here's a crazy idea - you know how CMC just established that Rainbow's Sonic Ranboom is pretty much established as the reason all of the main characters are where they are?

What if that were used to tell a time-travel/alternate reality story where one villain, looking to see to it that Luna succeeds in sealing away Princess Celestia permanently, were to go back in time and stop Rainbow from pulling it off the first time. That would force one of the ponies (who knows how things are suppose to be, because that's how these stories always work) to gather up the others and set about fixing the timeline by stopping the plan to mess with the original Sonic Rainboom.

If nothing else, it would be fun to see where each of the ponies would be if it weren't for the central event.

What if the only person who knew about the Sonic Rainboom was Rainbow Dash herself? Of course, if it was her that knew, the villain would have to interrupt her during the race.

It would make sense if Rainbow Dash filled the role of the one person who knew there was something wrong with the timeline, seeing as she's basically the key to it all anyway.

Spike and Pinkie can both be narrators. They can give different reports, get a weird story, and Twilight can come in at the end and correct them in two sentences.

If anyone is going to be a sixth ranger it's going to be Luna. Or possibly Ditzy Doo. A pony can hope anyways. Maybe she'll get an episode dedicated to her and we'll learn that those guys from Sonic Rainboom constantly tease her by calling her "Derpy" on acocunt of her signature expression.

So, lets say somepony does go back in time to alter the past so Rainbow Dash doesn't race, knock over Fluttershy and pull off her sonic rainboom. What would happen to everypony? I mean, we can extrapolate how their lives would be different but what about their cutie marks? Would they have found something else or is everypony destinied for one very specific cutie mark? Would they have gone through their entire lives without a cutie mark because somepony screwed destiny? Twilight's mark in particular is unique. It wasn't the rainboom itself that caused her reaction, she was reacting to all the other holders of the elements of harmony the moment they had their epiphany about who they wanted to be. That's when they were chosen to be the bearers of the elements of harmony.

Still, this is a moot point unless we can find someone in Equestria with access to a time travel device and it's not like there's a Time Lord just hanging...

Someone here pointed out, truthfully, that Derpy seemed to be her standard age in Twilight's flashback, during the Summer Sun Celebration.

Wouldn't it be standard of the Doctor to take his companion back to such an event?
