Something occured to me while watching a clip of the show.

The clip was from Show Stoppers I believe, where the CMC are attempting to gain their marks... one of the things that they do is basically a psychic test - Scoots and Sweetie chose a symbol, and AB had to pick it out right. Now, that got me thinking...

If they were looking for their talents, why that? In all real-life circumstances it's really just a guessing game, so it can't really be a talent... or can it?

Note that Applebloom is the one doing the guessing. The only one doing the guessing. Even if you need one pony to choose the symbol, why have BOTH Sweetie and Scoots doing it? Why not get two to guess at once? Unless Ab was the only one who doing this made any sense for.

Low-level psychic powers are not uncommon among earth ponies. We have precedent for it in Pinkie's Pinkie sense after all, and when one considers that 'Shy is more EP than Pegasi most of the time her Stare could count as well. If EP's do have some sort of intrinsic connection to the world it's possible that would occasionally manifest itself in ways that appear random and supernatural.
