I half-expect Luna to get carried away with her Halloween performance, followed by a heartwarming ending after being driven to tears by the ensuing misunderstanding.

Huh... so slightly on-topic. I just got back from a part where I met another brony. I'm pretty sure I made his night by telling him about the Luna episode. seriously, he flipped out. 'Course, it probably helped that he was drunk off his ass, but still.

I'm just amazed that they call Derpy by name on the storyboard. I guess that's as close to official as it will ever get since Hasbro would never approve it.
It's pronounced "Te-ah-low-ve"

So, Luna-related... a group of crazy dedicated bronies made this short.

[up][up][up][up] Tell me about it. the show hasn't aired here and it is very difficult to find other fans :/

[up][up]I agree. I think the fandom has inspired me in continuing my dream of learning visual arts

Anyone ever notice how Spike always finds the book Twilight is looking for before she does?

Implies Spike has good memory.
But Pinkie Pie has found books before Twilight Sparkle too...

Hey, remember when we were discussing who Ponyville's previous librarian might have been? Did anyone suggest Pinkie Pie? That would be pretty funny, and it could explain things like why she thought it was okay to throw a party there in episode 1.

Oh god, I can't stop reading those art student owl things. Seriously, every single one of them is spot-fucking-on (at least to judge from the people around my school). There's even one or two game design ones!

Somewhat along that note: I dunno, maybe it's because I've hung out with a few animators, and watch so goddamn much of it, but the short didn't really impress me that much. It wasn't bad, but it was just kinda... meh.

[up][up]It's because Spike arranges the books and the way he does it makes. no. sense. If you've watched the episodes they're sorted by their -title-. What library does that?

[up]Ones where authors are not usually credited?

I liked the animated short. It was excellent for amateurish work.

Yeah some polishing in details like the head turns, and that could probably pass for a real sequence on TV!

... who writes the books? I assume Twilight would be an author in a few years, and I suppose most of them are written in Canterlot anyway.

Yeah, I guess. I mean, for non-professional it was really good. But I guess at this point to hear people laud stuff like that I kinda expect to be blown away.

Luna's Lament was pretty decent. As a nitpicky cartoon/anime nut, I must say that it could use lots of tweaking and refining, but as far as it goes, it is definitely a great new beginning in Pony fanworks, and it won't be long before they achieve Touhou-level critical mass of self-sustaining FRIENDSHIP and TEA. Present Prank was better in terms of animation polish and timing, but Luna's Lament is more ambitious in scope.

Replace Jack with Luna and revamp the lyrics. Reuse the imagery, 'tis awesome, especially the bit where she'd walk down a hill with the HUGE moon on the background... I mean, at least she has something to complain about.

Mm, for the length of it it was more ambitious, yeah, but overall the present prank was much more dynamic, which is much trickier than the simple walking around/talking. I dunno. It's definitely a good starting point for the team at least.

I don't know why I want to argue so much today, I'm so sorry.
