Being friendly with the odd is one of the best things you could do around here. If they get to kno you they probably won't be as harsh if banning is needed. They're too social able here to categorize as a "them". The only "them" we have on this site is Fast Eddie. Otherwise you won't even notice the mods are mods.

Mods are pretty much regular posters with some additional power/responsibility. I'd kind of like to be a mod.

I learned not to be friends with my boss the hard way. He would joke around with me... and I would reciprocate, but the minute I said something he didn't like I was in deep shit.

He used to pick on me all the time because I was Wiccan, he'd ask me if I sacrificed any babies lately or how Satan was doing... give me super religious Christmas cards and laugh. It was all "in good fun" as he told me.. but if I ever reciprocated .. I was marched into HR.

My boss was basically a Troll... he'd just bait me until I reacted then get me written up.
