Not this past week, but I distinctly remember one of the mods congratulating the Korra thread for being able to generate more mod intervention than the pony thread. The shipping thread issues are just icing on the cake.

In any case, it's probably not kosher to talk about mod issues too much here.

So Syd, how was your adventures in DC Metro area blackouts?

I'm further north (SE Massachusetts), so I wasn't affected. I didn't get that huge storm, either. It's probably the only storm that's missed my area in the past week. We've had some real soakers, including three (or was it four?) thunderstorms.

You're probably right, but it's been a year and a half since I've read Howl's Moving Castle. Speaking of which, I should probably read it again, it was a pleasant series and her loss was regrettable.

It's a book about this girl named Sophie who ticks off a witch, who then turns her into an old woman. Sophie then goes off and stumbles upon the strange castle of an eccentric young wizard named Howl.

Also loosely adapted into an animated film by Miyazaki.

Ahem. But yes, chapter 1 existed solely to give a picture of how he began, to give context to his change. He's supposed to be a boorish asshole.

Yeah, the ending was confusing, pushes in all this stuff about other fire demons and Howl's girlfriend who turns out to have been evil... That was one thing I certainly didn't miss from the Miyazaki film.

Howl\'s Moving Castle is tied for my favorite Studio Ghibli film.

I tried to introduce a plucky Kid Sidekick and he got brutally murdered offscreen before he even showed up!

Also mousa, in response to the bit about the chapters names: I wasn't directly inspired, there are more than a few books I remember from my childhood that had In Which a Trope Is Described chapter names. It kinda just ended up being a pattern I fell into.
