When the freak where games on floppies...(Rhetorical)
Back in the olden days, my uncle actually sent us a bunch of his old games that came on floppies. I only got one of them to ever work though, and of course it was a dumb game.

I do believe we're discussing the morality of tricking a pacifist into helping you murder someone.

Whether or not the protagonist of Fallout Equestria is full of shit.
Lurker and I are of the opinion that she's a self-righteous hypocrite.

@Chad: Let me put it this way, in a situation of kill or be killed, I would, as a pacifist, choose the be killed option.

@Sky You missed my story.
#230814Perpetual LurkerThu, 21st Jun '12 5:10:45 PM
The chapter I just finished had her go on a rampage of moral outrage after discovering various injustices. She keeps trying to apply idealized morality to a situation, and becomes judge, jury, and execution when things violate that. Now, I do not have a problem with this. It's a part of her character development. I'm just saying it's there.

Ah, Fallout Equestria. Time to lurk then.
@Cheerilee Could you quoteblock it here or provide a link?

It's explained that the wasteland tears you down. Even when you find your virtue it isn't enough, you need friends to balance you out and keep you on the right path.
Whatever flaws Pip has as a person are meant to be kept in check (though not purged) by her friends... and vice versa. Sometimes they fail... but most of the time they succeed and keep her on the path of goodness
That's how I always saw it anyway.

The problem is I'm having a bunch of characters who are almost completely unlikeable and I'm not given a reason to care if they win or lose.

Problem you read story just to complain.

Pretty much what ginger said. no pony is perfect, that's why it's impotent to have freinds, to balance out each others flaws.

@Chad: Basically what I'm saying is that a "kill or be killed" situation is not a situation for giving a pacifist character development out of his/her pacifism, it's a situation for him/her to die.

I think where Pannic and I differ here is that I while we both see Pip as a self-righteous hypocrite, I don't hate her for it. I can at least see where the development is being set up to so far, and it looks like it will have a pay off. If it doesn't, then I'll be pissed.
She's full of shit, but so are most of the characters. It comes with living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Unfortunately, the fact that the canon characters in the past are also full of shit, derailing them (IMO), is not so great.

@Pannic well, that's just YMMV then. I really liked all of the characters (except for Pip until she got the drugs cleaned out of her system)
Maybe it's a cumulative thing. Maybe you'll be more okay with her self-righteousness as a character flaw after she starts being nicer to her friends.

Being full of shit is what keeps most of them going, it's the only way they live with themselves.
At least Pip is being constructive with her bullshit and has her heart placed firmly in the right place most of the time (and gets punished when it isn't)
