So, did Rainbow decide she needed a pet because everyone else had one, or she secretly misses Gilda and needs someone to take her place? I mean she was basically describing Gilda when she was describing the qualities her pet should have?

heh yeah RD would talk like she was the most skilled mare ever, and have no idea what realy happens.

Rarity, rarity would have a odd view of it since her biggest source of info was romance novels.

Then again we're assuming ponies treat it like humans do and don't just say buck it, it's natural do what you like and never hide it from fillies and colts...well never hide NOT do it in front of, they still have SOME propreity.

Actaully i think it really likely rarity is, she'd be the type to wait for the PERFECT stallion., really the only one i don't see a very good reason for them to be is RD.

Rarity: Is waiting for the 'perfect' stallion. Probably dated.

@ginger: I can't really see that. Her standards, at least as far as her costumes were concerned, were still pretty exacting when she was a filly. That probably extended to all aspects of her life.
